Everton (A) | Game Postponed

To those kicking off about us wanting full transparency, here is Villas statement on their postponed game when Newcastle had an outbreak

Aston Villa can confirm that the Club fully supports the Premier League’s decision to postpone our fixture with Newcastle United on Friday following a significant COVID outbreak at the Tyneside club and the shutdown of their training ground by Public Health England.

We would like to thank both the Premier League Board and Newcastle United for their comprehensive and transparent communication during the process which resulted in this decision being reached.

Everybody at Aston Villa wishes a speedy recovery to all those at Newcastle United affected by the virus.

Right decision and the premier needs pausing for at least a month.

Exactly more and more cases are popping up, probably because the mutant strain is a lot more infectious. It's making a mockery of health and safety and the fairness of competition. It needs to stop until infection rates drop and the vaccine is rolled out.

It sounds like the criteria may have been changed a few hours before and Everton were just told about it afterward.
Who really gives a fuck when they were told. If the premier league decided the game should be called off on safety grounds then that’s the issue here, not the offence caused to neverton fc by not being consulted. And to be frank, quite why 2000 people are allowed to sit close together given the pandemic is beyond me - I imagine the data for this came from your mayors office, he seems like a trustworthy sort of a guy

It's the PL, when has there ever been transparency around "decisions", just look at how VAR is arranged for some ?

I take the point.

It doesn't detract from the legitimacy of the request for transparency in this instance.

Fookin chill out people.
Everton have done nothing wrong and are merely disappointed , as we all are.

Football has been a bit more of a relief from this shit than we all thought and nerves are becoming increasingly frayed.

It is their job at the end of the day and no one should potentially die doing their work.

Lock down now.

Why would they consult neverton when it was a decision made purely on medical grounds? I don’t get that at all
Because Everton Football Club were preparing to host a premier league football game and blissfully unaware. It’s not just a case of Ancelotti and his players, the whole club are involved from grounds staff to medics etc.

Out of nothing more than common courtesy they should have been kept abreast of the conversations between the Premier League and City.

Im not suggesting that Everton would’ve pushed for the game to go ahead (I actually think they would agree with the decision) but to not consult them shows the premier league’s incompetence.

Bullshit is the way of the World now mate, especially on social media.

The one thing I will say is the Premier League probably need to come out with a statement on exactly what the protocol is for these kinds of postponements. What the threshold is etc.

It needs clarifying, to stop the bullshit spreading so easily.
Bullshit is more contagious than the fukin virus

There might be an issue of when they INFORMED efc but they had no need to consult them, this is a medical matter, not a matter of inconvenience

And that would be reasonable.

However, Everton should know exactly who has Covid, when were the Prem informed, under what basis has the decision been made, has the protocol been broken and why etc.

Basically, Everton should know everything there is to know and shouldn't have to request it. I can't see why this is an issue with anyone?
It isn't an issue with me, the PL should absolutely be disclosing the reasons for their decision and that is what any reasonable business would do. It's not only Everton FC who need to know, the wider world of football needs to know. I'm scratching my head as to why people would think about City deliberately seeking to get this game postponed.....they are in a pretty good moment, against a team who would be missing several regulars. Perfect time to play them. However, the caveat to that - and it's a massive one - is City don't want to go and infect another team with the virus (imagine the sh*t we'd cop for that!)....and that has to be applauded, however late in the day it is. This virus doesn't f*ck about or discriminate, trust me. Health. Comes. First.

So assuming City sent the results of their Covid tests to the PL, the PL then has to seek medical advice on what to do. From that advice they concluded the game must be called off. That being the case......tell the effing world why it's happened! It instantly shuts down all these gobshite fans and even bigger gobshite journalists on social media, who think City are pulling a fast one. But then the words 'Premier League' and 'transparency' have never gone together.......and to be honest neither have the words 'gobshite fans', 'gobshite journalists' and 'common sense'.

Actually under GDPR rules they have no reason to "know exactly who has covid", it's entirely a private health matter for the individual concerned whether it's made public.

I've since agreed it could be a good point.

Information can be shared in a way that protects privacy however.

Basically, we were all set up for a match at Goodison and were kept in the dark about what was going on. It is legitimate to have an issue with that aspect.

I don't have an issue with the postponement or with Man City.

Yeah your work knew, but it wasn’t made public knowledge was it? The Everton fan is saying Everton should have been given names, I’m saying it’s nothing to do with them unless the players affected agree to it
I dont know they do or should have a say in it mate. We have been lucky to have football played at all really and in order for that to happen there has been regular testing of players and staff. Newcastle had an outbreak of it, now we have had an outbreak of it. This virus spreads on exposure. In order to prevent spread, it requires knowledge of and disclosure of who has tested positive and therefore who has had exposure to them in order to ensure they isolate. Cant see a way round naming people. We all want to know who we know that have got it so we can keep everyone safe and that is no different. Daft thing to get precious about. Its not admitting you have Cat Aids. Its how tracking it works

Was a bad toned statement and didn't even send their wishes to those who have caught it.
