Everton (A) Post Match Thread

I had never seen anything like that in the flesh. Not even Barca. But it still needed Joe Hart's doziness to create a real goal scoring opportunity for them.

City today were seriously dangerous all through the first half, trying little passes into the box etc, not just knocking it around for the sake of it, but still had 82% possession.
Fred Ayre was purring on GMR, but its hard to gauge because he's got clear bias, and he said "best he'd ever seen us play" just before half time, and he's said it before this season, so if we've bettered it, its quite an achievement.

We battered Neverton in the first half with out attacking play and sound possession, excellent game management to see the game out in the second half.

Considering it's away from home v an Everton side & crowd who would have been right up for it (had they been able to touch the ball) he's probably not far wrong.

We were so good that at times I was sarcastically thinking 'Rein it in a bit, save the perfection for Liverpool.'

Wow!

Absolutely mesmerising football. That first half was as good as I’ve seen us play

So many great performances all over the pitch and three stunning goals.

What a joy it is to be a City supporter nowadays.

Any one of five or six could have been MotM, but Merlin was my choice.
Have to agree with you. I had this sarcastic thought going round in my head 'Rein it in, save the perfection for Liverpool and a few other games......'

I think he had a point tbf.

I don't know what you lot are crowing about, it was a draw, BFS said that they won the second half............... therefore it must surely be a draw. he should know he was hingerlunds manager, for 4 days.

What a mega 1st half that was. Everton were done after 5 mins. Shame they scored a soft one but hey it matters not. Silva MOTM.

I hope we go full strength and absolutely batter United. We won't get another chance like this again - beat your rivals in a derby to win the title. And completely embarrass and humiliate them in the process. If we are 3-0 up at HT like today, keep fucking going and grind their noses in it. Pep already mentioned how great it was when Barca did that vs Real. So he gets it, forget what he said about the Liverpool games, he wants to spank Utd as well. I cannot wait.

Wow. Have we ever played as well as we did in that first half.

Play like that in the next two games and it’ll be one of the best weeks ever

Another great performance. I must say, it seems to me that a lot of pundits have gone slightly overboard about Pickford's distribution. He's lightyears behind Ederson.
Totally agree. Pickford has conceded 53 in the league alone - 32 games. Butland has conceded 58 in the league - 31 games (maybe he missed a game) and makes howlers - punches the ball into his own net etc. Those two are breaking records for the number of goals conceded, and yet there's a few deluded pundits who think they're having great seasons and deserve to go to the World Cup. Pope is a level above those two. Our own Joe had the best record of any goalkeeper in European World Cup qualifying - didn't concede for almost 12 months, and got, and continues to get, slaughtered. Better international career clean sheet record than Neuer behind an immeasurably weaker team.

That first half I was just laughing and shaking my head in total àwe. Merlin was just on another planet. Wish he was 22 and not 32 :-(

I really think Merlin has another 2-3 years of being capable of orchestrating this midfield. His key features are touch, passing and a football intelligence that is of genius status. He also clearly lives a model existence in terms of diet and lifestyle, so don’t get too sad just now ;-)

Incredible first half today. Silva/Sane in particular were just unstoppable.

Sometimes feels like De Bruyne & Silva take turns in who's going to step up & kill the opposition on match day.

There was actually a few players who didn't get as involved as they usually do, including De Bruyne/Sterling, which must be scary for the opposition given that first half performance.

Let's hope for similar against Liverpool.
