Everton (A) Post Match Thread

Just watched the match on Amazon having not know it was on there last night !
I was expecting to see some really piss poor performances. But thought City controlled the match, everyone put a good shift in, yes some players made a few mistakes as is being human.

I must stick to my principles and not go on the matchday thread :) .

City were no where near as bad as someone fans thought on the matchday thread lol.
The matchday thread was so removed from reality last night I wondered whether posters were actually watching the match. Nobody has a bad game last night and we were brilliant, but so many players were variously being called dreadful.

This is a key point. But honest question. Which of our players playing without Peps systems are genuinely world class? Or are we a World Class team with very good players?
Kun in his day perhaps And definitely KDB. Diaz and Foden have the potential and Raz on his game?
Buy which of our players would command World Class prices?
This is what blows the idea from rival fans (particularly rags and dippers) that Pep is just blowing a ton of money on talent. They fail to recognise it is their teams which are breaking transfer records, what the great man is doing for us is buying rough diamonds which he is cutting and polishing into a set of Crown Jewels. By that I mean he is improving them both individually whilst creating a squad which is even better than the sum of the parts. Genius.

I do think Phil would fetch a good few bob, but City would not let him go at any price.

He’s changed his tune over the years. I’ve no idea what he’s calling himself at the moment, but when he was a regular pundit on itv he described himself on air as as “an Arsenal fan; grew up a City fan, but an Arsenal fan” - that was what he said, or words almost identical.
As messed up as that sounds it is quite common among footballers, once the game becomes your career sometimes childhood favourite teams are left behind. I had a conversation with a couple of Macclesfield Town players a few years ago, they still maintain an interest in their first club but it is not the some as us humble fans.

that was a class show, fans entitled to their view but knocking any player on the pitch last night shows a lack of football knowledge.

it was a well balanced display from all the players on the pitch, some great passing ( a few went stray but always will ). Beautiful football to watch, controlled the game, 10 out of 10 from me pep you are a masterclass.

That was probably as tough a game as we've had in this run. A win that is not to be under-estimated. Everton were set up well and posed a threat, particularly first half. That said, we still dominated them even if one or two passes didn't come off and we looked a little off the boil early on. Some very, very good performances...Bernardo was wonderful to watch, his off-the-ball runs plus his vision and control when he's on the ball were unreal. Rodri solid as ever, Mahrez shows again how he can change a game in an instant.

The movement on the second and third goals to create the space to shoot was brilliant. Look at Bernardo's goal and how he completely wrong foots Keane, who then basically gives up as he was completely rooted to the spot. Credit to Mahrez because he had a hand in all three goals and a great underlapping run for his strike.

The physical and mental strength to keep winning every 3 or 4 days is colossal.....injured players to come back into the team.....but it's still got to be one game at a time, no letting up and the same attitude and skill levels on Sunday.

Everton set up to replicate a cold wet night at Stoke and bully City with their selection of big lads. Surprised Duncan Ferguson was not brought on as a late substitute. A tough physical game. Ultimately Everton outplayed and run off their feet by City.
Pretty much how i saw the first hour and thought at one point that we may get muscled out of the game. THey looked twice as big as our forwards and midfielders. Doucoures man marking of Foden seemed to be working well and their centre halfs were coping well with anyting in the box.
Big credit to our lads who stuck with it and took a few knocks before their skill and fitness eventually wore Everton out.
