Everton (a) post-match thread

Bad performances all over, Pep has to drop KDB for me, he’s been poor for ages, he doesn’t fit well with Gundogan who should be in the middle with Bernardo. Stones in the middle with Dias who completely looks lost without him, Laporte doesn’t fill him with confidence. Up front we really need to get back to our best Foden as the false 9, Mahrez out right, Grealish left.

Why City fans are hoping that the ref made a wrong call in not awarding the penalty shows low self esteem, sorry to say this. If there is an offside there is an offside no matter how close but what I hear fans on this thread say is that we got an unfair advantage even though the offside leading to that incident was correctly judge. If we can’t stand up for ourselves let us stop crying that the media treats us foul.
That’s nonsense, with all due respect.

Half of us will try to justify the decision by saying it was offside in the build up. (Incorrectly.)

The other half will laugh it off and say it was checked by VAR and it obviously can’t have been a handball.

Low self esteem? Fuck off, lol.

noticed the strong refereeing has disappeared for our games and are actively encouraging players to fall over, helped break up the play in the first half and disrupt our rhythm, and although we got lucky with the goal, knew Everton wouldn’t be able to keep up first half performance

On the possible handball, the camera angles Sky are showing simply aren't good enough and it seems like they are freeze framing shot from behind after the actual contact, which potentially distorts the truth. No doubt though the ball does hit shirt & it's not conclusive that it's not more shirt than skin.

Lampard’s just said that if it was offside in the build up that negates the handball, but he said he’s had it confirmed to him that it wasn’t offside in the build up.
The ref clearly indicated offside after the var decision came through . He raised his arm and pointed along the pitch indicating it was off . Not sure if anyone can play it back and confirm it as I might have been seeing something different.

Dodgy first half. Controlled the second half. Got very lucky with the goal and penalty decisions, though. Probably the jammiest win we've ever had in the Premier League, on balance. Still, a jammy win is preferable to a draw. Carry this into the week.
