Everton (A) | Post Match Thread

I wonder what bullshit Gary Chuckle is going to come out with now?

He’s been talking up that Everton game for weeks, making out it’s the hardest game in world football, and we’ve just pissed it without breaking into a sweat.

Magnificent from Gundogan - we have to make him stay now.

Foden was also very good, Mahrez as well. No one had a bad game, although I think Alvarez is starting to feel the effects of non-stop football for the past 12-plus months now.
“If you watch that match back, I think they were close to losing it. 0-3 really flatters City. I think that performance shows Real Madrid will turn them over midweek and Chelsea really have a chance to get a result at the Etihad. I don’t think they have any chance of getting the treble now, which will make a lot of people happy.” — Gary Neville, probably

Congrats guys. Gutted for us but you cant switch of for a second v City. Thought we done well first 35 mins and could have been in twice with Doucoure and DCL but for Walkers pace. Anybody else is not getting back there.

Much better when we switched shape but think you just took the foot off the gas.

Good luck in the last 2 games. Hopefully we can get a win (or 2) in the next few games
Hi, all the best to you in your relegation fight, fingers crossed you survive. I feel for you lot having to share a city with those red tossers, you're Liverpool's only club like we are in Manchester

Thought DCL looked sharp… hope he went off to save him rather than another injury

Performance top notch , result more than deserved , team display and spirit impeccable , and best of all a huge dent in any lingering hopes that Arsenal might have before their game.

I really think Forrest can get something against Arsenal which would mean 3 more points and the title is ours but you can't help think we won't need another Arsenal blip to make it three on the trot.

Don't often praise individuals but Gundy rarely lets us down and rises to the top when it really matters.

His free kick is a lesson to all how to strike the ball. Smart players know how to extract impact speed and height and this one was one of the best taken free kicks I have seen and I have been watching the game for over 50 years now.

I’ve got to say you guys kept on trying for the entire game. It was just your lack of quality at the critical moments that was lacking.

Needed to be perfect which we wernt today. But the next 2 games were always the biggest ones, anything today was a bonus.

When does a bogey ground stop becoming a bogey ground - was very nervous before todays game… great performance especially with Wednesday on the horizon

I listened to 5 live pre match and it was a solid hour of talking the Toffees up on the back of last week's result and how Calvert Lewin was going to be the spark to light Everton up and give us a real tough game.

The beeb really don't like us do they.
Subbed off at half time and still living off half a season under Ancelotti 3 years ago.

Cheers mate. Me too! Makes me sick supporting them bastards tomorrow but needs must. Hoping they hammer Leicester 7 or 8 nil and I feel dirty

Brilliantly managed game.

Gundogan’s first was inventive and full of nous, his cross (with his left!) was pinpoint and hit with enough to make the header easier for Haaland, and his free kick was vintage Mr Whippy.

When you looked at the line up, you thought “Walker playing that inverted full back/midfielder role,” then you find out Laporte and Akanji are playing it, depending on which one is available, and Walker is staying home to keep an eye on McNeil…oh yeah, and bomb down the line when able, with Dias, Laporte and Akanji sliding over into a Back 3!!! THAT is what FOOTBALLERS are able to do!

Then, late on, Dias gets a rest and Akanji becomes our RCB!

Meanwhile, the midfield rotation means no Everton player actually has a City player to “mark,” as such, and they’re simply trying figure out which runner is whose!!

Great to see the players realizing how important that was and Pep letting the fans know “TWO MORE WINS AND IT’S OURS!!!”

FANTASTIC result today just heaped the pressure on Arteta and his players, so let’s hope Brighton show up and don’t fold the tent like they did last week!!!
