Everton (a) pre-match thread

You wouldn't think we were even playing today looking at the media coverage. Nothing about us on the BBC Sport website, nor in the Observer. All Klopp this and rag shit that. Even a piece on Schneiderlin, but nothing City related.

We need to smash these Scouse twats today to put a big statement down that we are in this title race and have more chance than the two sets of red has-beens playing at the swamp after the seasons biggest game.
Quick edit for you

Because player for player we are much better and we are on a good run. Agree that 3 points is all that matters but the amount of fear shown by some posters is IMO, staggering.

I don't think it's fear, I just think it's caution. Understandable too, as I think it will be a difficult game today. I prefer that to some of the wildly optimistic pre-match predictions you sometimes get!

There are extremes Ric and each are as bad as each other, but it appears to be the same old faces who need to pronounce their fears and not accept that we are capable of beating anyone one. I personally think it is a coping mechanism for some.

Stats from the BBC, and to be honest I thought we had a worse record against them (Schneiderlin to score today anyone?):

  • Manchester City are unbeaten in their last seven matches against Everton and have won on two of their last three visits to Goodison Park.
  • Three of Everton's last five goals against City in the Premier League have been scored by Romelu Lukaku.
  • City missed two penalties against Everton in October, with both spot kicks conceded by Phil Jagielka and saved by Maarten Stekelenburg.
Everton

  • They have lost just one of their last five league matches, having previously endured a run of one win in 10 games.
  • Everton's only league defeat in their last 13 home matches was against Liverpool on 19 December (W7, D5).
  • Since Romelu Lukaku's debut for Everton in September 2013, only Sergio Aguero (77) and Harry Kane (59) have scored more Premier League goals than the Belgian's tally of 54.
  • Lukaku has scored 11 of Everton's 28 league goals this season, or 39%.
Manchester City

  • Pep Guardiola's side have suffered three league defeats in seven matches, which is as many as they had lost in their previous 24.
  • They have kept just four clean sheets in the league this season - seven fewer than leaders Chelsea.
  • Manchester City are the only team to have had more than 50% ball possession in all 20 of their Premier League fixtures this season.
  • Yaya Toure has been directly involved in six goals in nine previous appearances against Everton in the league: three goals and three assists.

That's not right - we lost at Goodison in the semi-final last season. Or were the BBC just referring to league games?

Did I hear Fernando is struggling with an injury?

Guardiola said he hadn't trained in his press conference on Friday, but was hopeful that he'd be able to take part in yesterday's session.

The biggest problem is the fact that Pep has not yet worked out his best defence and best system .there are to many swopping and chages and players are still unsure of there roles
