The best way to go into the Real game is to beat Everton. Anything less than a win will make Wednesday night more difficult. Go strong, claim 3 points, and then regroup for Wednesday.

Easy to say.

However the best way is to go into the Real game with a win against Everton AND 15 key players refreshed.

Unfortunately somebody (I.e. Pep) has to make informed decisions and take a calculated risk on each game.

From some predicted lineups I’d say some taking Everton way too lightly.

Sometimes it's simply a function of health. The players I want reated were already dragging at Madrid. They very well could play and be worse.

These guys are human. I want the Fresh legs to be most of the starters. And give the guys who played 90 minutes 4 days ago the rest they need.

At most none of the main guys should play more than 50 minutes. And preferably, 20 minutes at the end of nothing at all.

They’ve had 5 days to recover and many had a break last weekend in the main v Leeds. Should be fine hopefully.

I tried coming up with an expected team, got to 9 and not sure who else he'd play. Don't want to say Palmer and Perrone but don't see Rodri or Gundogan starting and I'm not sure I'd want to risk KdB and Bernardo.

Phillips is a good player, done it for Leeds & England. Just hasn’t worked out with us yet. It’s concerning because even those that say about ‘first season syndrome under Pep’, those previously played far more than Phillips is right now. It’s a genuine concern how slow and more worrying how confused he looks with his positioning when he gets on.

Let’s hope he improves asap.

We play a style that is obviously pretty difficult for players to get their heads round. One shot, one goal isn't because Ederson is shit, it's because if/when we lose the ball in certain areas of the pitch, we're completely open to the counter.

Look at Grealish last year, he was shitting his pants almost every time he was on the pitch. He didn't want to take players on in case he lost possession and just played the ball back to where it had come from, time and time and time again.

And he was on the wing!

Rodri was the same when he started. So was Gundogan. Both were too slow.

Defensive-midfield/pivot/whatever-the-fuck you want to call it, is pivotal to how we control the game and Rodri is our most important player on the pitch. He's almost the only player we've got who reads the game as well as is needed for that position. Phillips is just shitting his pants at the minute, you can see it in his body language and shape whenever he comes on. It's too much for him right now.
