i really liked martinez initially and he had a great first season but then it went downhill and you could see what his faults were-defensively his teams were clueless. koeman has started off well and am pleased so far but in retrospect we have played teams we should be expected to beat. tougher tests await and lukaku apart it's hard to see where goals will come from, so key to our season could lie in both retaining him as a player and keeping him fit.
This is the main point that my ERO oft said after a reverse. The number of games that EFC should have won under Martinez but didn't tells you everything about how limited he was as a manager. My lad always thought that sooner or later he would do with EFC what he had done at Wigan - win a cup and get relegated. Koeman is altogether far more organised. He may well waterproof the defence but his attacking options seem to be in the Lukaku basket.
