Everton enquire over availability of Ireland

Ageing side, most of their decent players have had career threatening injuries.

Pinnar is out of contract next summer, he will sign a pre contract agreement in January with another club they will get nothing for him. Arteta only has 2 years to run on his current deal and is refusing to sign a new one. Aresnal and the rags are sniffing round several of their best players, they wont get anything like the sort of fee we gave them for Lescott = no decent replacements.

Just to keep going they have to sell one of their best players every season, how much they get (as with Lescott) means if they can sign adequate replacements or not.

I said this time last year they had no chance of finishing in the top 6. They didnt. They have even less of a chance this season with the sides above them continuing to improve and sign better players whilst they get weaker.

Anyone that thinks any different is deluded, just like any talk of Ireland going there, OK they beat us twice in their cup finals for the season, but we beat Chelsea twice and they won the title and FA cup, so it really means nothing.

There is also the question of what will happen when Gollem leaves, everyone knows he will be off the moment a big club come calling and that will effectively be the end of Everton as a top 10 prem side.

The Bitterness in this post is off the scale:

1) Pienaar will be offered a new contract, if he signs then great, If he doesn't he will be sold this Summer. Even if he left on a free next year we only paid £2.5m for him so it wouldn't be a massive loss.

2) Arteta isn't refusing to sign a new deal, talks only recently opened and even his agent (you know what they're like) has said how happy he and his family are here and that he has no desire to move on.

3) Yes we do need to sell someone each year to make funds but the players we have sold have all been replacable and have been replaced with the obvious exception of Rooney.

4) No chance of finishing the top 6? we only finished 6 points off you! with a better start of the season we could have finished fourth, nevermind top 6.

5) Cup finals? don't flatter yourself. No-one around here sees you as any bigger than us yet. We beat United and Chelsea, those matches were FAR more important.

6) Remains to be seen, I however believe that when his negative tactics and favourtism of over the hill players leaves us we could improve even further.

Gwladiator, if you asked any player in the world who they would rather sign for (Everton or Man City) then I'm sure they'd pick the blue half of Manchester rather than the blue half of Liverpool. Why? Because our ambitions are to be the best in the league and potentially the world in the long-term whereas yours is to sustain yourself financially and do your best to compete with limited resources. If you take Moyes away you take away your ability to overachieve.

Everybody is talking about us, not Everton so to say we're not viewed as any bigger than you is absolute nonsense. You can go on and on about on-field activities, but you talked about how both teams are percieved and laid comparison, not anything other than that.

Oh no, not again... What is it with these Everton fans coming on here.

I said here, I have no doubt that players would rather join City but you must admit that money has a large part to play in that aswell. Look at some of the players you've signed who have had interest from teams like United and Chelsea, you think they joined because of ambition? or was it the hyper inflated pay cheque they'll now recieve? Like it or not, you're buying success.

The point I was arguing against was our matches being 'cup finals' to us.

Man, you sound like Darth Vader or something, revelling in your calculating and comprehensive explanation of Everton's forthcoming demise. Personally, I quite like the competition, and would hope they can strengthen before August - they really weren't far off in the season just past, and have a formidable midfield. I'd still take any one of Pienaar, Arteta, Fellaini or Rodwell. I hope they get a decent forward in (weird 2nd Division Portuguese dudes aside).

I hope we make top four this year, but I hope it's not all tied up by March - where's the fun in that? I want decent opponents.

It's just another two fixtures in my book.

Money has a huge part to play in it but what's wrong with that? Last seasons champions Chelsea done the same, and when they weren't cash strapped the season before lasts champions done the same spending £30,000,000 on several players. The point is if you want success in the modern game you need a rich owner willing to invest. That's the reason why Everton won't be anything other than they currently are, a team punching above their weight.

I've never deinied that we are financially but in terms of the quality of squad, we deserve to be where we are.

No player sales = no new signings.

Pinnar definately wont sign a new deal at Everton, he can sign a precontract agreement in January so I doubt anyone will sign him for any real money this summer, so thats one decent player you have to replace with no funds comming in.

Arteta has made it clear he wont sign a new deal for the money you are offering, with 2 years left you wont want another Pinnar expect him to end up at Arsenal or maybe the rags this summer.

You can only go so far with loan signings and selling your best players, I said last summer you definately wouldnt finish top 6 and what happened ?

Its the same for the comming season, you are actually in an even worse position as you will likely loose 2 quality players without any decent money comming in.
