Everton (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

LOL, he's currently our least dangerous player, he's only useful when we're defending a set peice.
I trust that is a tongue in cheek remark? Did you watch Match of the Day? If you did, recall the pass from Gibbs-White to Elanga for their goal. We don't have players who can play that kind of pass now. And our wide forwards are individual show-boaters.

it was interesting what Ortega said about the Everton goal and it was indeed a good finish but he said last years it would have not be on target, or hit the post etc.
I think what needs to be done is make sure that ball is not crossed in so easily or blocked by defender or attacker cannot make the shot undisturbed. or we get in there and stop the action even before it gets to a cross etc.

players need to take responsibility instead of thinking everything goes against us we cannot do anything.

we did get into this rut that every on target attempt, usually the first of the opponent is a goal because we allow it to be a high xG chance and usually rather clean shot available. it doesnt have to be like this.

The issue is that I think most people realise he is the best there is, and that we would be stupid sack him because there isn't a manager in the world I'd trust more to rebuild us to where we want to be than him.

But while it is going on with the cards he has been dealt now, it is painful to watch. And when we see the same problems every single game, with very little tangible changes from the man himself, it feels a little bit like we are throwing away game after game at the moment.

Pep will win again with different players. But enough different players seems far away right now. Most people want us to get points on the board while putting up a proper fight to get us back into the CL company we have fought so hard to establish ourselves in
He definitely is the best there is, I can't think of anyone else I'd have in managing the club. He's took us to peaks I didn't know existed and played a brand of football that's revolutionised English football more than anything even Wenger did.

However, I do think a good coach who's head is in the job could sort this out. Sure we can bring in more players, but surely part of the job is getting the best out of the squad and he's not doing that now. I agree we are throwing games away but the worst part for me is that it feels like we've not idea on what to do to improve it. The formation, the players, the plan just stays the same.

At the moment, I honestly think this team will do well to finish top half of the table. Personally, I don't think Pep's head is on the ball at the moment.

I'm getting a bit worried...

@argyle doesn't appear to have been on to assure everyone that there's no need for concern yet.

Can someone ring his nurse?

Sorry. I placed you on ignore because you're a ****.

As I said, you've been itching to criticise this team for ages.

You've posted doom laden posts for years that everything will come crashing down and you've been wanting to be proven right for so very long. But they haven't come true... until now for these last 13 games.

Except it actually took about 4 or 5 games for you to turn on Pep, the team and the club.

You revel in defeat so much that I have my doubts if you're an actual City fan.

So spend time out of your day trying to be a clever **** by calling me out. I wasn't on here because I was actually at the game, I'm not a manchild who can't handle a draw, I've actually got friends and family that are more important and I really don't give a shit about anything a wanker like you says.

It sums you up that you, and those like you, seem to have been very quiet when we win things but now during this bad run you're having the most fun on here.

It's nothing really new. This was like his first season. He has his style of play and that's that.

He really won't change the fundementals for anyone. That stubborness has given us the most success in our history.

It won't improve until either the players suddenly all become fit again, or we bring people in to the team in January and then the summer.

Until then we just have to ride this period out.

He does post lots of jokes…not all are funny though!

I don't think he needs to change the fundamentals, he needs to tweak it that's all. He needs to remember that every other manager in the league has been watching, learning and thinking about what he's been doing for the last 10 years and copying him. In effect, everyone is a Pep now!

I don't think we can just ride this period out. If we do, we won't win many games this season. Please believe me I don't want Pep out at all, I want him to stay and he's easily the best manager around. However, he needs to sit, think and learn. We can't keep doing the same things expecting it to be different. Too many teams have beaten us doing the same thing.

Pep needs to now take a bit of Dyche, a sprinkle of Slot, a dash of Arteta and tweak his ideas to take in the best of them. it's literally what Klopp did - copied Pep. Teams and managers take in inspiration from anywhere. I've said before we need to get back to basics - stop conceding goals for a start. If we keep playing Lewis in midfield then we should expect every team to score at least 1 goals against us. I think the sensible thing to do is to play a deeper flat back 4, keep the passing, but make sure we don't concede stupid goals. That then means our quality has a chance of winning a game. I don't want Pep out at all, but he is going to have to realise that his team will only win games once he's changed something in it.

I have absolutely no idea where our next win is coming from. Including the mini rags.
I said this 3 weeks ago and got piled on. Seriously I wake up every match morning and just know that it isn't going to happen that day. I did predict a draw to my hub today.

I just don't know where a win will come from. I am seriously concerned that we won't even get 40npoints. Why is Pep persistenting with this boring side to side play. Why are any players afraid to shoot on sight?

I'm not a JcL but I can't even be bothered watching some of our games now, I'm bored and angry in equal measure.

So your guess is as good as mine regarding a win!!

I do agree and would love nothing more than Pep to be a little more pragmatic and adapt things given the players we have fit and that some are on a decline.

But it's just not who he is.

I believe I pulled out a lot of hair during his first season when he constantly played a high line and we were battered by the likes of Leicester (big gulp that they're next).

But he didn't change then, and he won't now. So there's no point arguing or getting frustrated over it.

Just got to hobble to January and pray that the club forget caring about wanting to be low spenders and go and get the players we need.
