City need to get back to basics!

Far be it from me to tell the greatest football manager of all time what to do, but in my personal experience, when things aren't working, instead of trying to figure out where the problem is, I find that untangling & reconstructing everything from scratch always reveals where the issues lie & what needs to be done to resolve them.

I've said this before several times, & I'll say it again, City’s current formation & tactics have been figured out, so instead of trying to do things better without Rodri who made it work, we need to strip everything down & go back to basics, which is Pep's famed 4-3-3 with players sticking to the formation.

Until Bernardo's opener, both Lewis & Gvardiol played as full backs, & Everton were pinned back as they had zero space out wide to launch counter-attacks into. Things were developing nicely until the goal, but for whatever reason, Lewis moved back inside & Gvardiol became more advanced, which led to Everton springing counter after counter into the wide spaces vacated by our inverted full backs.

The inverted defender formation worked well when we had the best CDM at our disposal, but we can't keep trying to do the same thing game after game, leaving ourselves vulnerable to individual errors, when we're overrun in defence.

The time is nigh for Baldy to play to our current Rodri-less strengths & rebuild our confidence & form from the defence, forward. We still possess the tools, but we're not utilising them as effectively as we should.

The question going into the second half of the season? Is the perpetually over-thinking Baldy, a man for turning?
Good post. Agree totally about the inverted full back. It’s killing us attacking wise and defensively.

Noticed firdt half how we were holding width with the fullbacks and we did look better.

the target has to be champions league next season and a couple of buys with Dias fit and a striker option in the second half of the season should make it acheivable.

i assume that the exit of gundogan, ederson, and kev is a guarantee

the club should be working already to facilitate the exits of stones, walker, nunes and philips

Bernardo i would keep - his injury record is very good and he’s not that old.
The target is always avoiding relegation. This team wouldn’t survive a relegation fight.

Well, at this moment we are in very poor form, that's undeniable.
I'll take small hints of improvement.
I read that today 35% of our squad are injured. That doesn't include Kev, who is clearly not fit.
After a decade of winning, it must be demoralising to hit that wall. It is also true that we are missing a few natural leaders in Dias, Rodri, and Stones. Kev just isn't the same man either and Kyle has made such a mess of his life that I doubt others are looking to him.
Step by step.
Stop this KDB crap

HE IS FINISHED, HE IS NO MORE

HIS TIME IS OVER, GET OVER IT

We have no right to be the best team every season.

No point going on about injuries nor age or anything else. The team is shot to pieces and it’s the clubs job to rebuild it again.

Depending how that goes will determine the level we reach in the future.

It was an unbelievable winning run.
Thank you Captain Obvious;-)

Great effort from Pep and the players. Self entitled fans were a fucking disgrace. I also work hard for my money but I back this team when the chips are down and support them even more!!!
Fck me. We've got the Mother Teresa of City fans. Can we just build a statue of you now?

The blame lies at Rico Lewis in Defence. Debruyne on at 75 minutes. Not dropping Haaland.
Lewis isn't a defender. Full stop.
Waiting until 75 mins to make a sub???
Haaland???

Not in to conspiracies, but Haaland and Lewis have dodgy photos of Pep...! LOL...

Oh just fuck off. Rico Lewis was ok today and he just seems to get the blame no matter what.

Every single post that name checks Rico, a 20 year old kid, ignores every other completely shit player to push your weird fucking agenda.

Gvardiol was by some distance the worst player on the pitch along with haaland, but yeah, let's just slag off Lewis. It's either clueless or you just want to blame a player rather than the ineptitude of gvardiol, savinho's lack of end product, or haalands complete lack of interest.

Maybe it's watching the game at home but in the ground it was terrifyingly obvious haaland can't be fucked and gvardiol can't place a pass and is never in position.

I did think we were better today at least compared with the derby debacle which cost me a ban but people talking about a recovery of challenging for top 4 are in utter cuckoo land
We will finish in the bottom half this season I doubt we will reach 50 points , we are cooked and losing at least one player to injury on match day and one during training per week and this is much more than just bad luck.

Off and on the pitch we need a complete reset 5 points from our last 9 league games and it is not going to get much better.

Once we are safe from relegation Pep needs to decide whether he is now a draw back on the club.

Klopp knew when his time was up and while I would love Pep to be part of the rebuild but maybe he should go , he has done more than enough and the harder he tries the worse it may get for him both mentally and physically and he doesn't deserve that.

Do you seriously actually believe all this made up crock of shitte and that we will be related? I don't. It's media cartel led hype that's obviously getting to sane people.

However the way the team are playing now they could end up relegating themselves! No charges required.....
If we get any serious point deduction then we cold well be relegated. That was as bad an Everton team I've ever seen, and we couldn't beat them. Really hard to see where the next win is coming from. All it takes is this run to continue for the next few games and then our fixtures become awful looking again end of January into February. Even a point deduction of 15/20 could be enough to send us down.

I do miss Brookside
It's on STV player ATM, entire series. Me and my lovely OH have rewarched from the start, done about 500 episodes to date ( we are in mid 1987 on the show). Sinbad was in during 83/ 84 minor part, but obviously reappears as a major character fairly soon..

Much as I loathe Scousers some of the social commentary and culture covered was ahead of its time and was prophetically accurate for how some issues are nowadays.
