Everton (H) Post Match Thread

Well I obviously agree with you. Walker was never anything like one of the best RBs in Europe. His technical ability is awful. It's sort of an issue in a Pep team when you are bad at passing and dribbling. The entire team has to play around him when we have the ball.

It honestly shocks me that everyone doesnt see it. Maybe I'm just crazy.
No, that's me.

;-)

Oh here we go, the first super fan.

He’s just about good enough for us and his pace allows for that. Of course he’s not just pace but his technical ability is poor compared to the rest of the squad. How many assists does he get? Why do we concede so much from his side? We went out of the FA Cup last year due to his technical ability.

This isn’t church, I don’t have to praise the entire squad every time we win. It’s a post match thread about discussing the game and the team.

The team is great and we’re lucky enough to be living in the greatest times of Manchester City but we can still critique the odd player or performance.

Maybe RAWK is for you.
I think it's clear that both Walker and Delph are not as comfortable as the rest of the team in our quick possession play and Walker also not the best positionally but no team has 11 superstars. They are both homegrown and they have a good positive attitude. Things could be worse.

By no means perfect but a good win, against a team who always makes life difficult for us, in horrible conditions, in the middle of a congested fixture list and without key players. Good to see Gabby back on the score sheet.

I absolutely agree with that.

Pep is a perfectionist though and I’m sure he’ll address both full back positions in the future.

And to think I can remember when Dave didn`t play we couldn`t unlock packed defences.
3 points, Aguero and Co rested, and from 3-1 it was a stroll. We can`t expect champagne football every week, esprcially with a busy festive period approaching. I thought we managed the game brilliantly today.
And as for the "Walker bashers" you really have taken it in like a toilet what Rio spouted. With constant injuries to Danilo he`s being overplayed. The same can be said for Bernado.
Onwards and upwards, roll on tuesday.

Nothing to do with Rio.
His defending has been poor for months now.
In fact he is starting to show the same defensive frailties he had at Spurs a lot more this season than last.

Its your opinion.

The issue is your up against the opinion of probably the worlds greatest manager in Pep and he thinks he is fucking brilliant as do a majority of us.

On that he has looked out of sorts of late and it could be a niggle he has or just tiredness but he is one hell of a player when fully at it imo.
I've not read all the thread, and not looked back to see who the discussion is about, but I'm guessing its Walker, he's been off it most of the season for me, and today was one of the worst he's had, but neither full back played well today, with both having a number of brain farts.

I thought we played some good stuff today going forward, but were quite poor at the back, it even affected Laporte late on, too many changes game on game for me, we can't keep changing all 4 defenders and expect to be resolute at the back.

Pleased for Jesus, he's deserved that for his overall play, but today was one of his best performances for us in my opinion.

Spot on pal, he’s not the best FB in the world, however, his contribution and effort can not be faulted. It’s a Club game, not an International team, thankfully we can’t just get the best 11 players in the world. Our starting team today were not our best but they got the job done and they are inclusive in Pep’s mind which is good enough for me. It’s how the squad is managed that counts, not just the best fit eleven that we could nearly all pick.
