Everton (H) - Post-Match Thread

Rodri is a great player. He’s evolved the fern role.
Have been unsure, but this season he has been magnificent. Interesting that this has coincided with his comments that he feels at home here. Just needed time to settle in and play in the Pep system.

Happy with that, quality performance which we rarely see after the international break.

Bigger tests will come for Palmer but I thought he was excellent. McAtee showed a glimpse so the future looks bright.

Rodri MOTM for me, he was excellent, Bernardo right behind him.

Think I woke the house up at half 1 in the morning when Rodri thundered that one in, but they'll all get over it.
Lol, I have an awful record already, they tell me, get clear warnings that eventually a police officer will ring on my door bell. My reaction to both first and second goal has added more to that, I'm afraid...

No I remember that as well, we got beat 2-1 and you are right it was extremely cold that night as well. But the the nil all game was fucking freezing. It was the night we should of got a penalty near the end of the match with John Stones pulling Raz Sterling down.
Yeah I realised soon as I had posted. I stand corrected said the man in the orthopaedic shoes.

- That game typified where Sterling currently is. He worked hard, looked better when he had a chance to beat a man, and still has an instinct when he doesn't have chance to think about anything. But give him a second or two to decide and he still wants a touch when he shouldn't need one. I think we are past coaching that out of him, just hope he can limit it like he did when he was his best.

it must be a nightmare for the manager ? pep and city have done all they can and back him all the way and never once said a bad word in public. its just something city picked up far to late when we signed him to change sterling.
it must have been with him since a kid and players do have panic problems because they can see the bigger picture before it happens.

but the truth is sterling was never a striker and its only when pep signed that we played him in a 3 or the false 9
for me we all ask far to much from sterling because of the missing strikers ?

Two goals that will live long in the memory and an all round dominant display against a team we used to fear playing. When you see Sterling score a cracker and Mahrez hustling and harrying to win back possession, then you know you've seen a good performance.

Certainly helped lighten the gloom after this morning's sad news.

Professional football at its best.
I’m not rodris’ biggest fan but credit where it’s due he’s getting cleverness in his game. Must be that degree. Great strike as well.
That’s true, though tbf Everton today wasn’t exactly the toughest challenge he will have faced this season ;-)
