Everton (H) | Post Match Thread

Another shocking performance from this team. 1 point out of 6 in hour last two PL home fixtures, against the mighty Brentford and Everton. Will take a miracle for us to win the league now, and when we look back, this was the time we lost it. Just secure top4 and aim for the cups from now on.

Again, I absolutely love Pep, but making your first sub in the 87th minute when the team is having a shockingly poor performance and chasing a result against one of the worst teams in the league, thats just awful. He has to take some part of the blame here, just like the players. This is a game we should win 5-0, instead the league is more or less over. Not impossible ofc but we need a miracle now.
Late subs.
Fresh legs
Last roll of the dice
Nearly paid off.
Hope Everton go down. (But they won't!)

The frustrating thing is that I’m not quite sure what the plan was today. Obviously get it to Grealish and Mahrez to attract players then pass it inside. But to who?

KDB was nowhere near play at any point. Bernardo doesn’t affect the game from deep (blasphemy I know) and Rodri’s signature diagonal pass wasn’t on because they were so deep all game. So why did Pep persist with it for 83 minutes?

It was obvious from about half an hour in that we needed intensity and pace in attack (Foden and Alvarez flanking Haaland) yet he waited until it was too late.

He’s the best coach in modern history and our best ever but fuck me, substitutions and stubbornness to rogue tactics are his Achilles heel an awful lot.

The same tactics have affected us a few times already this season, something needs to change and he needs either somebody to tell him or he needs to stop being stubborn and do it himself. Today was shite. So was Brentford. So was Fulham. So was Leicester away. So was Dortmund away. That’s 5 of the last 10 games.

The most annoying thing is that the first half against the rags at the start of October was the most scintillating, brilliant half of football I have ever seen live and from the second half onwards it seems we’ve hit a brick, dull wall. It’s strange.

Hes right , when we turn it on theres no better sight, but this season its not been amazing to watch for large chunks of games

the mind set is Champions League, all our eggs are in that basket ? why else are the likes of walker foden cancelo not playing, OK for me, It's still very early season, we are not even halfway through, so a good run of wins from here like 10 to 15 wins we will be there or thereabout, so no need to panic

Just got back.

First off, not sure why we aren’t starting games with our best full backs on the pitch?

The team performance had a very dull, blunt vibe to it. Like they we all waiting for someone else to “do something”. Worst I’ve seen us play for a very long time.

To make matters worse, KDB was unbelievably poor. Daft pass after daft pass from the word go. More often than not he’s our go-to-guy but today he was just nowhere near it.

A very silly time to drop such a shit performance and drop points.

There are some very tricky games v higher end opposition coming imminently. The reality is, if we don’t pull our fingers out in those games, we can wave goodbye to the title.
