Everton (home) Semi Final Tickets

Has anybody pointed out that United didn't sell out their Semi Final 2 years ago against Sunderland? Attendance 71,019. Sunderland sold all their 9000 tickets. Yet for the same game in the league that season the attendance was 75,328. So over 4000 short and an extra 6000+ away fans. Yellow journalism to feed the masses. It has become their comfort blanket. Match going fans know the financial issues with attending football and especially issues which prevent attending midweek, the noise is coming mainly from people who don't pay e.g hacks and arm chair idiots.

There was also a semi-final 2nd leg between United and Blackburn in 2006 and if memory serves me right the attendance was something like 66,000 or 68,000 (Probably less Blackburn fans there than the Sunderland game but I'd guess they had at least 6000 there). I remember it well because I work in Trafford Park and someone at work who isn't an avid United fan but has a passing interest in them decided on the day that he wanted to take his 2 daughters to the match. He didn't have a clue how to go about getting tickets so being the caring City fan that I am (!), he asked me to go down to the ground with him to get the tickets which were on general sale (I have a vague recollection that they were selling them out of a portakabin for some reason).

Edit: Just checked and the attendance was lower than I thought - 61,637.

They had 30,000 empty seats in 2012 as well against Newcastle with the official attendance given as 46,358.

All's well that ends well, but I wonder if City need to re-consider the policy of delaying opening the top tiers? It created a negative vibe about the tie, the implication being that it was going to be a poor turn out, poor atmosphere, dominated by Evetron fans, City fans being forced to re-locate, etc, etc

Perhaps better to adopt the line of "There will be huge demand for this game, it will sell out. Be there. Get your ticket before they all go."
