Everton post-match thread

What's changed from his first season when for large parts we were playing 4-4-2 and playing much much better football?

Other teams improved & sussed us out abit more? Players not as hungry? Change in tactics & formation?

As much as we all relished the idea of the 'fab' four playing upfront for us I think we're or Pellegrini is struggling to make it work.

Hopefully Guardiola can change that.
I'm going to go for other teams sussed us out.

Trying to make the most out of Toure. That is at the heart of a lot of it. We found if we played 2 up front Tour would get exposed in a 2 man midfield.

I'd go back to 3 up front. We have the players: Even Bony might come good. Sterling for me is wasted on the left touch line always cutting in on his right. Too predictable. Play him down the middle with Aguero and in front of Silva and De Bruyne and then pack the rest of the team with fighters like Fernandinho and Delph. I am sure we could at least be competitive which we not at the moment.

Teams have sussed us out, and we've not responded

The biggest difference I can see is that most of the time then, we had two genuine strikers upfront rather than a pseudo striker with Aguero. And old pros like Lescott in the squad, Zabba bang on form. Negredo was the biggest difference first half of that season. Best cf in Europe right then til the boss got him crocked & he's never been the same.

I imagine if this team had Diego Costa at his best playing upfront right now with Aguero, this thread would look rather different. But that is no excuse.

That would be exactly what I would do with this squad, but I would sometimes use Yaya as one of the midfield 3, when he was fit & rested. i would also use Sterling & Navas a fair bit in place of Silva & KDB. Rotate all of them, keep them fit.

Have some of these players lost the hunger and desire and only play/put in a shift when they feel like it,seems like it going by some of the games this season,or is part of it down to knowing possibly that pep will be here in the summer and some of them won't...

i hope most of them won't tbh

I thought there was only me that had noticed that; two or three suddenly seemed to realise and turned back onto the pitch as they were on the point of leaving!! Easy to see Joe wasn't playing, he is usually the one who gets them to come over and acknowledge us. Like you I don't want the Klopp scenario but it was soooooo obvious last night, if that couple had not suddenly realised then we would have been left with a damp squib again. I don't want them to do it just for the sake of it but last night we were so loud and strong for that team we deserved an acknowledgement.

I've said for a long time that YaYa shouldn't be Captain, he never encourages the others, last night it was Otamendi and De Bruyne who were doing the shouting and pointing to where someone was needed. Vinnie would have had those players over to us in a heartbeat.

Indeed he would mate and probably issuing a bollocking in the changing room after the game to those who didn't.

It's noticeable, when there's a break in play, our players are usually standing arms on hips, not communicating, no-one in anyone's face, no captain or leader managing the game or situation. They seem rudderless, confused and completely not arsed. We usually have to go a goal down to see any reaction or motivation from individuals or the team. The defence doesn't seem to be a unit, the midfield doesn't and neither does the management. Plan A, Plan A, then Plan A again. If Plan A isn't working who's looking to change it on the pitch? Who's making executive decisions on the pitch to counteract what the opposition are doing? The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind..

We miss the passion and will to win that Tevez and Mancini generated No doubt the Pep business has put us in limbo .but Vinny apart our team has no leaders no one to take the game by the scruff of its neck This has the possibility of being a fantastic season, but with the teams current mindset i fear it will implode

Our season will end with a whimper and not a bang! We are losing too many games, we are being exposed like never before, and there doesn't seem to be one single lesson learned from one defeat to the next. I expect we will have more of the same on Saturday and Norwich will do what Villa did, Soton did, MANUre did, and we get another ref who doesn't know the difference between a blatant trip and a pas de deux, we'll not be in the hat for the next round!

I think everybody is missing the most glaring fact! We go on how we have the best squad/players? Fact is we haven't and it's showing! On the game got bullied again and fernando for kdb against 10 for last 5mins wtf
