Everton Post Match Thread

Used to be a fan but Martinez can fuck off with those comments.

Imagine not having the grace to accept that your side got lucky, and making out another player tried to cheat instead.

Especially after saying he wanted to have a look at the replay before making a judgement on the decision.

As poor a decision it was it doesn't excuse the fact we dominated enough of the second half to grab a goal in open play even though I thought yaya's header from a decent cross from Sagna was our best chance I thought to score.

Wish Sagna would whip in more of those , low and with pace as he is clearly capable of doing so.

Caught the game this morning while work has been slow.

Defense looked decent at least...

My thoughts on the game:
  • KDB was shite today. Guy just looks knackered from the first minute. Although the very few chances we had today, he had a part of it. But those magic KDB passes was nowhere to be found.

  • Fernando was doing a pretty good job. His passing wasn't the best but defended well.

  • Toure played well and looked active............... for the first 30 mins only.

  • Clichy was bollocks on offense. Couldn't cross to save his life. But on the other hand you can see quite clearly how much better Clichy is than Kolarov on defense. Clichy had Deulofeu in his pockets the whole night.

  • Aguero could do a little better with his finishing. Any other day when the keeper wasn't as in form as Howard he probably would've scored. Still though couldn't blame him much as our midfield didn't supply him with enough chances.

  • We would've been dead without Otamendi last night. One man defence all by himself. Joe Hart should buy him dinner.

  • Sterling looked like our best player. Always looks dangerous whenever he has the ball. Still I would've liked him to take on the defenders a little more often, especially on the counter attack.
This is what I saw as our no. 1 fault last night. Whenever we had a chance to counter attack, Sterling has the ball and he's 1 on 1 with the defender, he would wait for reinforcement before making something happen. By the time that comes, the Everton players would already be back. And honestly it's almost impossible to score against a team that has 10 players inside their penalty box, unless we took some long shot attempts from outside the penalty (which we should've done more I reckon).

just glad massive the rag is so concerned

Here is a genuine question for most of you.
Would you have brought on Ihenacho? - if so -who would you have subbed?. and what formation would you have employed.?
The only players to be considered for subbing would have to be - Aguero ? - Navas ? - Sterling? - KdB (who was subbed by Silva).
Fernando needed to stay on (had a good game) . Also Pellers would not have subbed yaya. -

Ihenacho will be seeking to leave in the summer - I would guess.

Good question, but considering the territorial advantage, we could have gone 3 at the back. Take Demi off with 20 minutes to go, lose 1 point or gain 2?

He's a fake of a manager, got that job on a technicality,he might have flooked winning the FA Cup,but 2 weeks later took his side down,so he ends up at Everton, the peoples club lol,who had wee Davey for years, another great under achiever hahaha, but he done so well with no money to spend blah blah blah,it's a load of shite,(and now out of a job) and Martinez will be given the same respect from them,so leave em to it I suppose, just glad I ain't a scouser who supported them

I'll be honest, I'm still a bit confused regarding Clichy starting. We're playing Palace on Saturday who are known for their pacey wingers vs Everton who we knew would sit back and were at their weakest at right back. Why therefore did we choose to bench our more able fullback in attacking terms for our fullback who has more pace? It's tactical decisions like this which lead me to believe that Manuel is nothing but a chancer. In the Premier League you need to have impeccable squad management and last night simply lead to more questions regarding Manuel's ability to do so.

The right thing to have done last night would be to play Kolarov so we could pressure their weakened right back whilst playing Gael's pace vs Palace.

Unbelievable Jeff.

We should know a thing or two about spotting fake managers who fluke winning trophies.

Happy with the performance if not the result just poor finishing and bad decisions cost us I've no doubt now we will beat palace and Everton in the return leg! I feel kolarov for clichy late on would have won us the game but we'll never no

I'm just as frustrated about us not winning as the rest of you guys, but if just one of the chances created by the team yesterday, would have gone in, how different would our posts have been?

Sometimes all you need is a little luck. The team did okay.
