just had a quick look - we beat them 2-3 on april 16, 1995 - the year they won it. was wrong about the scorer though - curle, uwe and walsh

Some Everton fans will be torn, but I remember the same feelings when Utd were going for the title in 1992. We beat their rivals Leeds 4-0 and we thought we had given them the title. A few days later we went to Old Trafford in a Derby went down to 10 men and Keith Curle scored a penalty to make it 1-1

It's what Everton players think that matters, and when it comes to the game, Everton fans will be up for it no matter what's said before

it's interesting tbough. remember at the start of the match having mixed emotions about wanting us to win. but as the team started putting in a great performance we were jumping around celebrating like usual when the 3rd went in.
so it goes to show - don't give everton any kind of foothold in the game or any reason to get the crowd going

Their fans want Liverpool to throw away the title.

Overall I think it maybe easier if Everton have less to play for but it's difficult to say. Could work the other way too.

Another fixture that's relevant is WHU v Spurs in the early Saturday KO. If Spurs lose it will be impossible for them to catch Everton, and EFC would be virtually guaranteed to finish 5th.

In other words it's possible EFC could Kick Off knowing that the result will make absolutely no difference to their final league placing and they will finish 5th

But the problem with all this is that pride takes over, and players want to win. As will their fans.

Baines watched Liverpool as a kid because of his dad but actually followed everton from the age of 14.

Players want to win a game they're playing in. Doesn't matter if it's Glassblowers Athletic versus Runcorn Chemicals or Port Vale versus Accrington Stanley or Argentina v Brazil, it's eleven against eleven and once the game kicks off Everton will want it.

I am dreading this. If we beat Neverton, we will have to start worrying about Villa and if we beat Villa, we will have to start worrying about West Ham.
