Everton Pre-Match Thread

I am fucking sick of Thursday already. Come on, speed up time someone.

The ever intensifying I am bricking it thread.

Lets show those Scouse essence-of-hyena-vomit chicken counters that they are deranged fornicators if they think we believe we are home and hosed. Lets show them that we have respect for our forthcoming opponents and we know we have won nothing yet and its going to be a difficult task (albeit achievable). Lets have a blow by blow thread to describe how we're feeling. It is Thursday. I am in need of solidarity, my fellow Blue Mooners. Record your ongoing thoughts here and give me coping strategies.

Re: The ever intensifying I am bricking it thread.

I keep telling myself that today is the day before. Im hoping therefore on saturday I will be convinced its Friday and the game will bypass me so I dont feel like a bag of spanners. Its the fixture we always seem to trip up in and im bricking it.

“Barry has missed five league games for Everton this season and they only won one of those.”
OS

He is vitally important to the way they play - the balancing act between their defence and attack and the cover for their fullbacks. There's a thread about the loan market and how it could be improved any many discuss whether it is fair or not for Lukaku to play against all of Chelsea's rivals but not them and how the system could be exploited in the near future. For me, Barry has had more of an impact in that case - in the critical games against our rivals Barry has been excellent - more important that Lukaku. I would rather play Everton without him than without Lukaku.

I think we should play the same team as vs Palace and look to exploit the space centrally and in behind their full backs. It is a good opportunity to play them considering their top creative player in Mirallas is out, Jagielka and Distin are injured (Jag may make it back but not 100%) and we are going to be 100% motivated.

I've dwelled on this and I've come to the conclusion that I want Everton to throw everything they have at us from the 1st minute until the 90th.

Let no man be in doubt that if we win it, We win it. No one gave us anything.

The good news is that he is shit.

Mods, why do you keep moving this. Its a separate thread. Its not about the game its about the emotions the game is generating.

Also, its as much about the Villa and West Ham games (IF we win on Saturday).

Is Phil Jagielka a city fan? Born in manchester...
Rag apparently.

The good news is that he is shit.
I think he's a good donkey centre-half alá Lescott, the good news is he's still in the recovery stage from injury, as is the milkman, so those two playing together at centre half could be a disaster for Everton, look at Vinny against Giddypool and he had a fully fit partner.

Does anyone know how many Neverton first teamers are definitely out through injury?

Mirallas, Gibson, Kone are all I can think of. That loan signing is injured too Traore?

I've been wearing the extremely tacky black #TOGETHER band all week and will do until Saturday. It's corny I know but it's making me feel better somehow.

Re: Stop moving the blow by blow I am bricking it thread

The title of this thread made me laugh out loud. Well done.

Coping strategy is involuntary for me - going to be on a plane during the blue dipper match so (just like with Newcastle 2012 BTW) I will get down on the ground, get a wireless signal, and deal with it from there.

No way I would miss watching it otherwise. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit relieved to be able to forego the stress of doing so.

Well said, we are good enough to beat anyone on our day... just hoping it's our day!!

Re: Stop moving the blow by blow I am bricking it thread

Wrote a long and very witty reply to your first attempt at posting the thread and it got lost in cyberspace...

Sorry... can't remember what was in it now.

Age.

I hope we player are under 21's and rest our first team for the Hull City game.

Views of some Everton fans on the Everton forum below.

“If they add the league to the Champions league of 2005 and other cups, then they have recovered their right to give it to us big style - forget the champions league of 2005, they know that was a one off, a freak win against the odds and even then they made out as though they were Barca. If they win the league, thats the one they want - the one they have craved and hated united for - it will be unbearable. I want City to win, simple as that.”

“Had a phone call earlier from a friend of the family whose hubby is a r/s armchair fan and said she doesn't think her hubby will be able to handle it if Everton fail to beat Citeh at the weekend, I told her to prepare for the worst, this could be a weekend our loveable r/s friends will remember for a long time, must go now, have to practice the Poznan.”

“Those saying that people not minding a City win are not seeing the bigger picture... it's the exact opposite of that; we are seeing the bigger picture. We're seeing a scenario where those unbearable bar stewards lord it over the city for the next 10 to 50 years, "Captain Fantastic Stevie G getting what he deserved", "Luis Suarez is the new Dalglish", car bumper stickers and full kit winkers wherever you look, all the while hearing YNWA sang badly and with the wrong words all over the place for a year and a day.
Some things are worth sacrificing to prevent every day life becoming a living hell in Merseyside. Rolling over to City knowing we only need a point from Hull away to satisfy our remaining season objective is one of those things every day of the week.”

“guys guys, by the time we play City, spurs and man utd would have already played. Say spurs lose, and man utd drop points I bet you will be cheering on city like you're Noel Gallagher.”

“Arsenal are going to win their games, without a doubt. Do you really want to see Liverpool parading around our city with the Premier League trophy? We'll never hear the end of it. Remember Istanbul 2005? They STILL talk about it as if it happened last week. This will be far, far worse”.

"Oh god I don't know whether to laugh or cry with the situation we find our selves in"
