Surprised at so much negativity on here. I can understand being sensibly cautious and not being cocky and arrogant like liverpool fans were being, BUT we need to understand that our players will be completely up for this; they know that we had almost certainly lost our chance of the title when we were unlucky at anfield and drew at home to Sunderland, they have now been given an unexpected chance to win the league, do you really think these players are going to easily let that chance slip away? We can of course draw or lose, as any team can in any match, but we have big game players, and they will be completely up for this big game, whereas everton's players know that it is extremely unlikely that arsenal will fail to beat both west brom and Norwich, and that they blew their chances against palace and Southampton. The like of Yaya, Sergio, Vinnie, Zabba, Joe etc know what is needed

Everton manager Roberto Martinez on knowing a win would help Liverpool's Premier League title hopes: "It is going to be a phenomenal test and we want to finish really strong at home.

"I always felt the relationship between the two clubs in the city has had incredible chapters and this would be another fascinating chapter. There is no doubt of our integrity - we want to win every game we go into.

"We are looking at ourselves because these are precious points. We can't afford not to give everything we have. Helping other teams is not the way we do things. We focus on trying to win for ourselves."
Everton boss Roberto Martinez is hopeful Phil Jagielka will be in the squad for Manchester City on Saturday. Sylvain Distin will train today and be assessed ahead of weekend.

He also comments on the fairness of loan players not being able to face parent clubs, with Gareth Barry ruled out for Saturday.

He said: "In my eyes, when you reach an agreement to allow a player to go, either on loan or permanently, he should be able to play. The fairest way is what we saw last night with Courtois."

Which is all very fair-minded except that, on those terms, he wouldn't have had the benefit of Barry for the rest of the season.

yes it is, of course it is, I was just trying to offer some comfort, like a Bluemoon Samaritans service. I am much more serene this time than I was coming up to Newcastle, but that is probably because we have won the PL recently. I was flapping more about my neverton ticket taking 8 days to arrive

fair play, but i honestly don't know whether a nice soothing calming influence is better, or realising there are other berks like me also flapping to high heaven about saturday. either way, i can't wait. its may, and we still have something to play for (which doesn't involve relegation). i will never get bored of this
