Everton V City post match

Slightly off topic for this thread, but I drove to the ground from a different direction to usual as I was picking up my sons from uni and drove through Wavertree, Kensington and Edge Hill. I have to say what a fucking dump. Makes Longsight and Gorton look like Monte Carlo. Seems that cyclists are mandated to ride round in dark clothing without any lights and the locals all look like they're from Royston Vasey. Went into a pub and takeaway near the ground. Couldn't pay by card in either; it was surprising they had electricity. When I parked up a genial shell suit clad scouser jumped out of a doorway for the parking fee and he was jumping around like the ex-leper in Life of Brian. What a weird place.

I hope you gave him half a sheckle.

As Mahrex and Mendy are rarely featuring, it’s essentially the same team as last year, but with Silva in particular looking less effective.

Also, we used to be so dominant and imperious that it came as a genuine shock when we dropped points, particularly against Burnley and United.

Opponents have since decided that the best tactic is to defend deep, and keep their shape and discipline, (even when losing) until the last 15 minutes, before playing long balls down the channels, attempting to win cheap corners and free kicks.

It didn’t work for Everton, but Walker’s body shape suggests a stupid penalty lurking around the corner.

You've omitted DeBruyne. If you go back to our 18 game winning run last season DeBruyne was our talisman, he was the one breaking the lines, coming up with the big moments game after game. We haven't had that this season due to his injuries so I have to disagree on it essentially being the same team.

The strange thing about De Bruyne is that most of our disappointing performances have been since he returned from injury.

Got to say Everton last night reminded me of the old Moyes team, who chased and harried and moved the ball quickly. Fortunately they couldn't defend a simple free-kick but a few of us talked about the times when we'd come to Goodison and be relieved at getting to half-time 0-0. Not that we often did mind you.

Have to disagree. De Bruyne has now appeared in 18 games this season, 17 as sub or substituted. City have scored 33 and only conceded twice while he was on the pitch. In the same games city have scored 21 and conceded 8 without him.

When De Bruyne is on the pitch we don't lose. That's a fact in the current season.
