Everton V City post match

Just reading that Stones clapped the Gwladys St as he went off and seems to have been well received.

Was a time when there was a fair bit on ill feeling between City and Everton but seems to have died down. Perhaps it was because they kept beating us.

I think we still have harder fixtures, but hopefully we will have the momentum. They have a relatively easy run in.

Spurs and rags matches for both teams could well be the difference.

Chelsea is the big challenge, we had to put a lot of effort in last night, I hope we can recharge enough to beat Chelsea. If we win, and United beat Fulham, Chelsea will drop to 5th and United will move to 4th.

Klopp couldn't have picked their last 4 fixtures, they are very straightforward

A couple of injuries to them and/or fatigue from CL progression could do for them. Along with their emotional incontinence, of course

Take into account last seasons's master-class of how to dominate opposition. Take into account the records we surpassed, and realise that us fans have unrealistic expectations.
Absolutely understandable that the match-day thread, mbm is full of emotional over-reaction, adrenaline-fuelled comment inevitable when the chance of dropping points is still there. The tsunami of relief at the second goal is the give-away of how desperate we are, a situation we rarely had to face last season, if at all.
For all it's ridiculous knee-jerk, drama queen "season's over.....sack him...sell him...everyone's cup-final...never-a-pen...nailed-on-pen...." the match-day thread is a window on the soul of City fans......warts an' all...........long may it be so.

Game management was poor until De Bruyne came on. We didn't keep the ball well enough. Final 7 minutes we played out well. Bernardo and De Bruyne did an excellent job and we saw it out. Again we failed to take our chances. We had three or four we ahould have scored in the first half and it was the same at the end of the Arsenal game.

Against Chelsea we might not get many so have to put them away.

Chelsea away from home have been indifferent but we looked leggy last night. De Bruyne coming in and Sterling starting should help and we have plenty on the bench. Mendy might start and give us a 60 minute shift which would help too.

We don't have to win the game, but it sure would help us in the long run. It puts immense pressure on Liverpool who would play their game in hand at the rags. The rags will be desperate to beat them.

We are the neutrals choice over Liverpool so most teams will be stepping up against them now. That goes for all games not just away at Goodison and United.
It's a pity we are not "the officials' choice", they seem to be giving Liverpool soft/cheating penalties and favourable offside calls, with the opposite for us. PL as an organisation want a different club to win the league each year and the officials seem to be trying to oblige.

I spent most of the match on the edge of my seat, frustrated at the chances we created and missed, anxious at the quality of some of Everton's approach play and in panic mode that the score remained obstinately stuck at 0-0 and then 1-0. I felt really elated when the final whistle blew and then I calmed down. It was only back in the calm of my own lounge that I realised that my mood swings during the match had everything to do with me and nothing at all to do with City. I am not one of the 300 000 who were at York on that notorious day nor am I one of the half million who trecked to Newcastle back in '68 but I am one of that generation whose doubts and fears matured into a certainty that, somewhere along the way, things would always go seriously wrong. Last night the way towards such a disaster had been well prepared: defeat on Tyneside to Newcastle's only two shots and now an Everton team prepared to lie down and lose to spite their neighbours - as if! But when I checked the match stats I found that Everton had one shot in the entire match, and I could remember it straight away - a long range effort which Eddy plucked out of the air as if he was picking apples! Apart from that not a glimmer, apart from one underhit pass from Walker that Eddy dealt with admirably. Amid my panic it was clear City had actually defended very well. And when I thought back to the seven minutes of stoppage time - which I thought was reasonable for the two lengthy stoppages - City had actually kept the ball in Everton's half for most of the time, apart from one attempt be Ferna of all people to beat his man on the edge of their box which almost led to an Everton break. City's performance had been a lot calmer and mor controlled than I had! It hasn't won us anything yet but we're in rather a better position than we were a week ago.

Is anyone else starting to enjoy the drama of this season? Last season was a bit of a breeze for most of the time so it’s hreat to have some good old fashioned game-to-game drama as the season builds to a climax. It’s the first time in 5 years, really, and I personally am really loving it.

I'd like it more if Liverpool lost their next 4 and we opened up a 12 point gap to walk it home.

They made it competitive until March, that's good enough for me, now they can piss off back to 3rd so we can try to win all 4 competitions we're in.

You must have missed Laporte header and Aguero overhead that both should’ve been goals. 0-4 then. We created plenty but didn’t put them away so YOU felt uncomfortable. I was pretty calm during the match and saw plenty to admire about how we played generally.
Only on BM. LMAO fella, thanks for cheering me up

As long as Pep keeps that dodgy grey cardigan on, we will continue to win.

Sure we started our blip when he stopped wearing it and now look at us since he's started sporting it again...

I thought we had blown it following the Newcastle defeat but if we beat Chelsea, we are surely favorites
Depends on what they do really. They still have that game in hand v the Rags and that may be the match that determines the title. Also I for one am not ruling out Spurs they still have a decent chance and maybe it is they who we will be going head to head with come May. I think a win on Sunday is essential to our chances and unless we run out of gas it is well within our grasp.
