Everton Vs City Post Match Discussion Thread

Everyone bashing kolarov, but anything we had of chances was created by kolarov... Silva ón the other hand has been shit for months and nobody says anything... Kolarov was our most dangerous player in this game even he played poorly by hes standards....

Kolarov put a few ok crosses in thats it. Tevez was our most dangerous player, followed by Zabaleta.
Silva was poor and has been hot and cold all season, but his job is to get on the ball and create, something he tried, but failed at.
Kolarov is a defender who's job it is to defend, and supply width when were on the attack, he happily tried the latter but his defending was nothing short of a disgrace, we may as well put a plastic cone out there, for the effort he made in his defending1

Silva would flourish in a system like Real Madrid's, our tactics are horrible for him. At Real you have defenders worrying about the wide men (Ronaldo, Di Maria) so they have to assign more personnel to them, giving the playmaker (Ozil) freedom and space. We don't have that variety so Silva is easier to handle. It truly is a joke after £500million spent that we over rely on one man for our creativity and have grafters galore trying to run through a brick wall around him.

Pretty much what he said ^^^^^

Hopefully.I'd rather have ISCO..Silva has been poor for months now-I cannot remember when he had a good game.
Get rid...

You've topped your previous record-breaking stupid comments. Well done, any top team on the planet would probably put Fifty Million on the table for him. Its a good thing you're not in any kind of position to do any more damage than make stupid comments on a forum.

Seething. Fucking seething. Knew we weren't going to win but I didn't expect to be so pissed off.

Some performances today were truly gutless. I'm sick to fucking death of them 'raising their game' against us and us not doing the same. It's inexcusable for me. We know they're going to be up for it so why aren't we? Why aren't we prepared for such a game? Why can't we string 4 passes together against them?

It's all well and good saying, "we always lose against Everton," but we have done absolutely fuck all in last 3 years to stop it from happening.
i felt like that but you have to understand that its football and you gotta just chill!

Seriously let yourself relax, we can simply focus on the fa cup, take what we did wrong at everton and make ourselves into a brilliant team in the space of a week!.

but yeah shite performance lol

It is just football, I agree, but when you spend most of your earnings on it, it does become a bit more emotionally attached to you.

We might well be in the FA Cup semi-finals but who's going to start that game and play well for us? More worryingly for me, the game against the Scum at the swamp the week before could be a nightmare. They essentially get to do what we did to them last year and 'win' the league against the other one at home. That's what worries me. Add to that, Spurs are biting our ankles and ready to jump above us in to second. Oh, and we need to play them at the Lane as well. Mint.

Sorry but I do think we're relying heavily on the FA Cup for it to be an acceptable season. If we lose that semi (or the final) where does that leave us? What have we done this season in terms of progressing? (I'd argue from a fan's point of view that beating Arsenal away is the only thing).

We've not learned how to play against Everton, Stoke, Sunderland (like last year, [and the year before][[and the year before that]]) and we've even managed to forget how to grind out results against lesser teams away from home (West Ham, Southampton, QPR) and we've still got Reading and Swansea to go to!

I just think that the season has been on the edge of being 'a failure' but we've had positives to cling on for a while (FA Cup, 2nd, only lost 3-4, etc). If we don't win the FA Cup and end up losing out on 2nd place, then it really is a shit season.

Re: Silva...

If Andrés Iniesta was stuck in a midfield full of just okay players and literally no other creative players, would be look as excellent as he does at Barça?

Players here play regularly and contribute at a high level with attacking and creative play for their team-

München:
Ribery Kroos Müller Robben (plus more in their squad)

Barça:
Iniesta Xavi Pedro Messi Sanchez (plus more in their squad)

Dortmund:
Błaszczykowski Reus Götze (plus more in their squad)

Madrid:
Özil Modrić CRonaldo Di María (plus more in their squad)

United:
Kagawa Young Valencia Giggs Nani

Chelsea:
Oscar Mata Hazard Lampard

City:
Silva (plus Nasri and Sinclair in the squad)
We've tried to sign many creative and attacking players but they've simply not wanted to sign for us. When one player is the only true creative player in a team he stands very little chance of succeeding and any time he does succeed it must be through sheer brilliance. Milner and Yaya are just not creative players. Our other best creative player in the squad behind Silva is actually Micah Richards. He had something like 9 assists last season.

We'll fight to the end? Could have fooled me

So disappointing

Only good thing is that might mean we actually bring in some decent players in the summer. Some who actually show some kind of desire might be a good starting point

How long did he play?

Badly dispossessed for the final goal.
One bad pass changes 3/4 of a solid season so far.

Ok, fair enough.

I like Clichy; he was a hell of a buy, and overall, he's been excellent. I was just responding to your specific comment.

I think that in general, we agree.

Re: Silva...

Plays well when everyone else does. I can't think of one game where he has truly stepped him and won a game by himself.

Doesn't have the mentality to go and win games himself like we often see with teams. It isn't down to his physicality either.

Nasri, Silva and Dzeko are specifically very weak mentally for me and when you have those three like that and you don't have the spine of your team eg Yaya, Aguero and Kompany around them it is very for the likes of Milner and Barry to not perform and be made to look like fools.
