Everything Star Wars

Slightly off topic but I got an email from Disney+ this morning:-

"From 16th March 2022 we are making changes to our discovery+ service and you will see the introduction of a limited number of ads."

Paint me surprised, how long until Netflix follow suit?

Cutting the price at the same time though.

You can always pay more and not have to watch adverts.

£29.99 for the year if you buy an annual Subscription before the 20th.

Netflix is highly profitable and has no need to lower fees to attract more subscribers and run ads to make up for the shortfall.

It is £80 a year as it stands but you get 7 profiles, so if you know enough people interested and club together you can get it for under £1 a month.

Only 4 devices can stream at once though.

I pay monthly for my Disney plus but share with family and get access to Netflix and Prime in return. No need to run a syndicate, just seems a faff if you can't use when you want because of device limits.

@Centurions post is inaccurate though.

He obviously meant discovery and not Disney+, they have no plans to introduce ads in the UK.

I didn't know only 4 could stream at once, however 7 are set up and about 20 people have access and it hasn't been a problem. Probably as only one person is paying who wants it and the others are only watch it when something new comes on once a week max. Yeah BT, Amazon and Netflix also free, the BT one is more complicated but above board.

Nowt much to watch on any of them though.

Actually I did mean Disney+ :(

Just checked the email bin and it was from Discovery+

Whoops.

Just watched Boba and it was jolly good fun. Do seem to be making the steel helmeted ruthless bounty hunter a bit more kiddy friendly.

Whereas I can see Mando as an independent series of Boba, really not convinced Boba stands on its own merits. Is there enough appetite for Mandalorian, Boba Fett, Andor and Kenobi? Disney pretty much managed to fuck up the movie series.

Solo was very much a missed opportunity, would have been nice to see the old books Han Solo's Revenge, Han Solo at Star's End and Han Solo and the lost legacy. These would have made a decent pre ANH trilogy.
