Evidence for religion

I think you've become rather confused as well as abusive. I see life as filled with meaning as the creation a loving God. It's your free choice to ignore the evidence for a higher power, that's the deal we're told. You don't seem to understand in doing so you empty the concepts of goodness, justice, fairness, etc of their ultimate coherence. I think history shows that atheist regimes abandon the divine ground of such values at some cost.

really george, you have the evidence we are supposedly ignoring, well i've been ears for quite a while now.....

i suspect i'll be waiting a while longer

Yes, Plato dismissed his ideas. Trouble is, no text of Protagoras survives, so we don't have a full understanding.
For a modern take on Protagoras see link.
http://markturner.org/design.html, . Warning: long and challenging, but the author is a well respected academic.
Definitely not a great communicator via the written word (like many 'cognitive'/behavioural scientists) but tbf it's an old article so he's now had more 'blending time' and seems more at home on video expounding his curiously empty theory of the 'human spark'

Being sent to Hell isn't such a bad deal though. The first few days of having red hot pokers shoved up your arse would smart a bit, but after a while you would build up a pain tolerance.
It would then be more of a social thing. Interaction with the poker-shovers every day.

What about them? They probably would get bored of doing the same thing every day and might resort to some high jinks for a laugh. Sticking a feather duster up your ringpiece when you are expecting the usual burning metal rod would lighten the mood.

And you would meet far more interesting characters than up in Heaven. Up there you'd meet Mother Theresa and Ghandi. Downstairs would be much more entertaining.

Here’s something I never understood and to me proves there is no such thing as the tormented Hell.

Satan wants us to follow him. To be bad, evil even. Now if we follow him, if we are bad and fit into the type of behaviour he is all about, why the fuck would he punish you?

You would be his kind of people. It’s like saying god would punish you for being good.

It’s all bollocks and the ultimate control mechanism. If you’re bad you will be burned forever. Now even taking aside the things that can send you there being so mundane. It’s a horrific example of how vindictive and yes evil god actually is.

Why would god reward you for doing stuff he demands, but Satan thrusts a hot poker up the arse of those who follow his path?

He wouldn’t and he doesn’t for the simple reason, it’s all fucking made up.
