Ex-City Players You Have Rose-Tinted Glasses For

Dennis Law (RIP) for his famous goal. But having not seen it replayed on any news footage today of all days, maybe my memory is failing me and it was Infact King Colin who backheeled it.

Darius Vassell.

Wasn't the best striker we ever had. His goal record wasn't even that good. And I recall a particularly bad penalty in a derby at what was then the City of Manchester Stadium (although we can forgive that after the goal at Old Trafford in the 2-1).

But at a time when we weren't very good, you can appreciate players who give their all and never stop running, dedicated to the cause and making the most of their ability. His partnership with Andy Cole looked decent for six months. I'd rather have one Darius Vassell than ten Robbie Fowler's.

I remember he later got a hero's welcome when he moved to Turkey and it was great to see. I think he was decent with England as well?

Cheers Keeper as I can't do pics. Loved this guy to a degree allowed Yaya and Merlin to do all the crazy shit.

Jesus Navas and Kolarov are always the two names at the top of this list for me.

The first was very good in that 2013-14 season. Looked like just what the doctor ordered. That Tottenham game! Don't know what happened after that season. Seemed to lose a yard of pace, wouldn't take his player on any more, kept trying to send low balls in from the wing that would bounce off the full back or one of the central defenders. It was one of the sharpest, and most mysterious, drop-offs of anyone in that team (I don't count Álvaro , it's clear the injury at West Ham crocked him).

Liked Vassell and was pleased when we signed him. A more sceptical mate wasn't having it...so I had bet he'd score 10 in his first season. He scored 10, but as one was in the LC my mate said it didn't count and never paid up.

I would clearly have saved that fiver, and then invested it into Bitcoin a year later in 2009. So my mate morally and legally now owes me £263million. I'll take a bank transfer. Or just buy me that tip in Wales.

I remember that welcome on ssn, treated him like a king haha

Always enjoyed watching Samaras do well in Scotland after a bunch of jumped up pisshead losers who had never won a trophy in their life bullied him in our dressing room for having long hair.

He went on to win league titles and they went on to scrape a living in League One standard teams. Cunts.

He fell completely out of favour with me when he missed the pen against the rags in that dreadful season. I was livid.
