Ah wasnt aware of that, I knew he had played that game so assume he was still knocking about. Weird to retire in middle of a Champions league campaign.
 
CJ Egan-Riley has been playing regularly for Burnley at centre-back this season and seems to be really impressing based on a few tweets I’ve seen. Burnley have the best defensive record in the country too (6 goals conceded in 17 games)
 
This list of players is damning, it's pretty obvious that we have a youth system designed to mainly generate profit.

So many of those players aren’t academy graduates though - Porro, Unal, Mooy, Harrison, Itakura, Luiz, Rulli etc

Its also out of date as it doesn’t include the players we sold in the summer like Harwood-Bellis, Delap and Hamilton

That's not the point I am making, the point is that we buy young players just to sell. Porro and Mooy never even played a game for us until we shifted them on.

The list is littered with players just like it.

Not sure what your point is. We make shit loads from this business and any other pl team would want to be able to do this. Are some of them good enough to get in our team, yes but they have benefited from moves to get playing time. And we won the league 4x in a row.

They are not pokemon. You can't catch them all.

I'd like more academy players in the first team but what about Phil Foden? Rico Lewis? Oscar Bobb?

Oscar Bobb has made 14 appearances for us so far (He could have made more who knows but for his injury) Rico is the only one from the new bunch and we have gotten rid of better.

Even during this unparalleled injury crisis youngsters have been warming the bench while old legs have struggled, at this very point in time we should have used more.

Buying other teams and players as assets just leaves me cold.

I don't disagree. I think we dropped the ball with Romeo Lavia and especially with Cole Palmer. Both were ready to play. We may well be doing the same thing with McAtee right now.

We could have used Liam Delap too but that one is more understandable for me, he needed some regular gametime at the highest level or else he was never gonna play/have the confidence he has now.

Other than the ones mentioned though, none of the lads we've let go would be helping us that much. Maybe Morgan Rogers, Jeremie Frimpong, Aleix García but all 3 needed a significant amount of time away from the club playing week in week out to reach the level they're at now.

What's concerning is the injury crisis and if rumours are true Pep would rather play players who are carrying a niggle than players sat on the bench mate.

I can't get excited about the players we buy and loan out or ones that are in the academy if there is very little chance of them coming through, and I can't see the point in fans getting giddy about the club making money while they keep putting the prices up either.

Totally agree with this post. Ks is I think Southampton’s relegation was unfortunate as the buy back had not kicked in at that point. I suspect we would have had him back if they survived

Further to this, Burnley have only conceded 9 goals in 24 games with Egan-Riley and James Trafford playing every week. The fewest goals ever conceded in a Championship season is 30 so Burnley are well on their way to beating it
