Ex City Youth Players

Does this team finish top 6? Top 10? Relegation? Defense is wank but that is some solid talent. Only used active players but I'm sure I'm missing some. Didn't use any players under control (on loan).

You've ignored Wright Phillips, Barnes, Lake, White, Redmond who would be looking at being in that squad - not forgetting tommy Booth would be a starter ;-)

I think he's talking about youth players who are currently playing not a historical youth squad.
I know just amused me thinking about the older products that came out back in my day. The team of Lake, Redmond, White, Flitcroft etc was a great time to be proud of the set up. Shame the club was such a shambles that in the end that team fell apart. Lake would have been one of our all time greats if not for the knee injury.

Nmecha brothers would also make the team and Kasper instead of Muric.

Olise if you want to be sneaky

Yes, I am in total agreement with everything you say. You could also include more from the 60s and 70s with Corrigan, Doyle, Booth, Pardoe, Oakes, Bowles, Bowyer, Towers and Young. As you say, Paul Lake would definitely have become one of our greatest ever players. It's a tragedy his career was cut short by injury but also that cheapskate Swales never showed enough support on the financial front to help him have a chance of recovering.

John Guidetti, there's a name from the past. Damn you chicken sandwich (or whatever it was he ate).
Dodgy chicken kebab in Malta after a u21 international game. I would not have eaten at that place but after a few drinks I suppose you get the munchies.

I always thought Brandon Barker would be a future world beater.

Abdi Ibrahim was another one. Heard big things about him from people who'd watched him regularly, but never quite made it at City and drifted off into the abyss.

Gai Assulin. Thought we'd signed the next Messi at the time.

Alex Nimely. Highly rated at youth level but another one who faded into oblivion.

Michael Johnson the most notable. One of the most technically gifted young players in the country at the time. Shows talent and skill isn't everything.

Also Karim Rekik (who Khaldoon once waxed lyrical about), Manu Garcia, Denis Suarez, Jayden Braaf.

You forgetting legends such as

New Yaya- Abdul Razak

Or the new Djemba Djemba- Divine Naah

There was a stat on the athletic today that said that only 1 in 200 of signed academy players will end up with a career in football.

I’d imagine that stat is slightly higher at City but still …

On that note, Luca Barrington has been released by Brighton and Matty Whittingham released by Wolves. Hopefully they’ll be able to find other clubs
