Im anything but a John Bull type who's blind to this country's many many failings.
But is there anything more irksome than someone who bailed on Blighty for whatever reason then slagging it off at every opportunity?
I see it often on here from those who sought out the sunshine.
Its a fair point mate and Id probably feel the same as you about it, myself, yes Ive criticised some things about the UK, but Ive also said many times that I miss certain aspects about England, pubs, the media to name but 2.
Every expat on here will readily admit that there are things he/she misses about blighty. I saw a picture of a meadow of vivid Bluebells that a friend had took the other day, I had a few pangs, it look so beautiful.
The other side of the coin is should we never mention things about the UK that we expats find wanting ? well this is a discussion forum for people to have their say on things so to have some sort of 'dont mention this or that' would surely denude the interesting vibe of the cellar.
For my part if Ive come over pious or priggish about the subject then I apologise and assure you that wasnt my intention, and I will be more careful what I type..
When Ive said things about my life in Oz (and I can only say what I feel) it has been in the context of me believing that a working man can achieve more here ie have more to show for your efforts than in the UK, that is just my opinion, I havent canvassed Oz about it. Its just my opinion. I have to give my honest opinion, otherwise whats the point, for some people warm blue skies, swimming pools, and a lovely beach lifestyle isnt important, I accept that, its a big plus for me in my everyday life though but again its just what makes me happy.
As for the poster assuring us our kids would move back to the UK I can only say that I have a wide circle of Brit friends and acquaintances at the local footie club and with my music things and a lot of them have grown up kids and I dont know ANY that have moved permanently back to the UK so Ive no idea what grounds he has for putting that view forward.
There are fantastic things all over the UK and I look forward to my next trip back.
