Explosion at MEN Arena/Victoria Station

In South America on biz and woke up to this.

Sickened & Appalled....where's the humanity ?

My thoughts with the families struggling with the loss

Because killing children rather than people in their 40s has a bigger impact.

It's sickening.

Not only killing children. Killing a certain audience at a concert by a certain artist delivering certain content.

I'm suggesting that this artist, gig and audience were selected deliberately.

The point I'm finding quite difficult to make without offending anyone is that Ariana Grande is widely considered to be an artist whose overtly sexual material (her recent collaboration with Nikki Minaj was literally about having rough sex and being rendered unable to walk properly as a result) is very keenly targeted at very young girls. While we don't want it to be the case, there exists in this country and elsewhere an element of society who find this exceptional to the point of violent reaction.

I personally value free expression above many other issues. But I'm saying that to consider this awful atrocity a purely indiscriminate attack is naive.
Spot on. They find a way to twist their religion to suit their agenda.

What do I do? I've got tickets to a gig at the Albert hall tonight and have been looking forward to it for months. If it was just me there would be absolutely no question that I would go especially now because I hate the idea of these wankers stopping people from living their lives as they wish. The problem is that I'm going with my girlfriend and, although today is probably one of the safest times due to the police presence and security checks, I won't ever be able to forgive myself if something does happen.
If it was me in your situation i would go. I won't let them scum bags spoil your night out. Don't let them win by not getting on with our lives.

i work in London every day, go pubs, clubs, concerts, west ham etc often..the thought of not going because there could be a terrorist attack has never crossed my mind to be honest - you would never leave the house otherwise

Thank you.

Im presuming they picked the Ariana Grande gig as she is one of the most popular female pop artists in the world at the moment. It had the most impact around the world.

Im not sure what you're getting at? Whats so special about the day being Monday?
4 yrs to the day since lee rigby was killed

I guess they might be holding up a mirror to our society : in which the promoters and parents think it's fine to sell a concert and performance containing very inappropriate material to small, primary-age kids. I don't know how familiar people are with AG but she went from being a Disney-style act to something rather raunchy. It does make you think in that respect.

My wife came downstairs this morning and I told her about this attack. She's a primary teacher.

'Islamic terrorism?' She asked

'Looks like it'

'Who was playing?'

'Ariana Grande'

'I'm sorry, but I'm not surprised at all'.

Sounds cold, but it isn't.

Two very serious issues arise from this appalling incident in my home city. Firstly, that there are people living nearby willing to mass murder our children in such a way. The second is exactly why they picked Monday and not later in the week when Take That were due to play, which would also have been a sell out crowd.

Sorry if this offends anyone, that isn't the intention at all. But nobody anywhere seems to be asking this question.

Exactly 4 years to the day Lee Rigby was killed.

I do agree with you, but we're in danger of mixing two issues here. I'm sure we are all in broad agreement that sex/sexualization is pushed on kids to young, but that cannot be used to rationalise murder.

Absolutely not, but we have to accept that there are people living here and nearby who do exactly that. The potential for motive cannot be discounted.

22-05-13 lee rigby
22-03-16 Brussels attack
22-07-16 Munich attack
22-03-17 London attack
22-05-17 Manchester attack
22-07-17 ...

you havent listed any of the many attacks that DIDNT occur on the 22nd
and you are neglecting the fact that the islamic calendar is completely different; yesterday was 25/8/1438, for example.

but whatever, i dont want to argue, you might be right

And the point is that us versus them is also exactly what people like ISIS want. So she's actually effectively on the same side as them. She would hate it if ISIS declared a truce on terror as it would remove her platform for spouting this crap. So while she's not setting off bombs or beheading people, she's as complicit as they are in some ways.

Without getting overtly political about it, when you listen to the likes of Katie Hopkins over here and the recently disgraced Bill O'Reilly over there, it's remarkable how the authoritarian right resembles the very people they supposedly despise.

It's times like these that our basic humanity kicks in, it breaks our heart to see the face of eight year old Saffie Rose Roussos who died last night and it should break our heart when we see this little girl....

She died in a special operations raid in Yemen that Trump authorised back in February, At the time the US central command confirmed that civilians were “likely killed” in the raid and that “casualties may include children”.

Her name was Nawar al-Awlaki.

This isn't playing the moral equivalence game, what that fucker did last night in Manchester was premeditated, he went there deliberately to kill youngsters. The US Special Operations Command did not go out to kill civilians and especially not Nawar, but she's dead nonetheless.

I delivered some tickets today (i am a postman).the guy said glad these have come my wife been going on about them. They are for a band at the manchester arena. So i said bet you are worried after last night and believe it or not he didn't have a clue what i was on about. That was at 1pm today he must of been living in a cave.
