Again I agree, although I do think you are probably much more Libertarian than myself.Don't get me wrong, I too support ANYBODY'S right to protest. I think legitimate protest is something any country can be proud of. I just get unbelievably frustrated at people telling other people what to think AND proposing ideas that will if not ruin, at least radically change, other peoples quality of life whilst leaving their own largely unmolested.
I do believe ER has successfully highlighted there concerns, however they are light on solutions and those that I have seen are as you say are more impactful on the working class than then the middle/upper class.
I am hopeful that now the concerns have been raised they can use the platform they have created to pursue goals that consider the working class and any future policy ideas consider the effects of them on those who are most in need.
As I am more authoritarian I believe than your good self, I have no problem with forcing through change as long as the working class are given due consideration and the effects of any change do not increase inequality. Your idea of a progressive carbon tax is one I would fully support and I would hope the Labour Party would see merit in such an idea, of course it would face opposition probably from those who have been demonstrating, but if it is change they want, then they would have to accept it in good faith and it would challenge their convictions to their cause.
