F A Youth cup semi-final v Blackburn Friday 30th Oct Live on BT

Thought Blackburn were a bit unlucky to lose 4-0. Equal first half and then city upped the tempo in the second. Brennan looked a decent player for Blackburn, although he missed a golden opportunity at 1-0. Played a beautiful through ball minutes later but was just offside. Was good to see Braaf back from his injury.

Imagine we’re pretty big underdogs against Chelsea but our current side looks a lot more physically developed that previous years especially in the defence so we might have a chance.

To be fair they did it very well until then, as did we mostly, I think the Blackburn lads were just knackered mentally at that point, as they had been under a lot of pressure.

I really enjoyed the game, and they gave as good as they got until the second goal.

I can understand us doing it as that is what is expected in our first team but surely the whole point of producing academy players is to produce them for your club? I doubt Blackburn first team play like that. How is playing like that preparing them for the real mens game when only City and Liverpool are capable of playing like it?

Perhaps they are trying to develop it throuh their club to ? For most of the match they were very good at it, they just got tired and made a couple of bad mistakes, even we still make mistakes doing it at first team level. I'd personally prefer it if more teams did it.

Blackburn had a couple of lads down their left who were very capable, that Brennan lad who played out wide first half could be a cracking player,we struggled to handle his power and pace.

Credit to Sheron,he's done very well, especially so when you look at the the resources the other two semifinalists and ourselves have.

Cant wait for Monday evening now.I think we'll be slight underdogs but we can pull it off.

Just watched the highlights. I can't wait until all this passing out from the back nonsense is eradicated.

Don't get me wrong, i will come across as Sam Allardyce but there is playing out from the back when you are capable of doing it and just looking silly when you are not no matter the age. Those last two goals were an embarrassment from the Blackburn coaching staff and not from the players who are being forced to play this way.

You don't need to learn to play out from the back like that, all it takes is being comfortable on the ball.
And how do they become comfortable on the ball if the goalie is hoofing it over your head. The next time they see the ball is when we're coming at them at speed, if they manage to dispossess us are they then expected to hoof it up field themselves?

I won't pretend to be an expert on the current crop, but having seen us bullied in previous Finals, it strikes me that these players seem far stronger, both mentally and physically,, with attitude and self belief in abundence.
As for progressing to regular first team football, you only have to reference David White and Kieran Grippier to see that it's not always the most obvious player who develops the furthest
Similarly, despite all their previous physical dominance, most of those Chelsea players remain stuck in fringe- football limbo

If you not Sam you must be Tony Pulis
