F1 2025 Season

That cool down room exchange has huge Prost/Senna, Rosberg/Hamilton vibes.

Are any of these racing drivers not born into wealth or bankrolled by their parents?

Must cost a fortune to fund them through the various stages to become a F1 driver.

Obviously Verstappen is and Norris too by looks of it.

I don’t know much about this sport to be honest. I watched the race today as I found it mildly entertaining when it was raining and stuck with it. Not sure getting pissed wet through in the stands and watching cars behind a safety car would be for me though!

Has anyone been to one and is it any good?

Just back form Silverstone.

Fifth year in a row my daughters and I have been for the weekend (Fri - Sun), we don’t camp but drive in each day. I refer to it as the sporting equivalent of Glastonbury.

Saturday is probably our favourite day but it is a great experience. Didn’t get soaking wet today because we were in a covered grandstand.

The majority come from wealth but there are a few who come through some form of apprenticeship or sponsored route, due to their talent.

As for race weekend, it’s not just about the racing, as you see little of it due to the track. It’s not like football, rugby, etc, but it’s a real buzz to be there because of the people. One of my old mates has been doing Silverstone for over 30 years, spending the full weekend there in his camper. For him, it’s like his Glasto, his Cup Final, the Ryder Cup, nothing can beat it.

Glad you enjoyed it. I have not been for several years. The speed and British support for the drivers being there in person is a great experience.

I have seen Mansell and Hill win the British Grand Prix. Both times the crowd was amazing.

Best crowd we were part of was the first post Covid one, when Lewis won.

The crowd is great though and despite the love and passion for the British drivers, so sporting. Nico got a fantastic reception despite keeping Lewis off the podium.

It’s a good experience. In the metal you have a much better impression of the actual speed of the cars.

But these days I prefer to watch from the comfort of home.
