I'm meh about it personally. Yeah, he's an arse but he's nothing worth popping champagne bottles over, in my view.

I'm wondering who'll replace him. Maybe James Vowles?

Verstappen won't be going anywhere..this was in part a power play from his Dad.

Not a chance do Mercedes and Toto have Verstappen with his Dad in the wings.

One of the biggest bad apples in Formula 1 at the moment in Jos Verstappen.

Or it could be the opposite.

The Verstappen’s have gone to Mercedes and that why red bull have fired him.

Nobody knows yet.
 
It's a strange decision. Is it in any way connected to the accusations that were levelled at him a while back? Even though, IIRC, he was cleared of any wrongdoing. Or is there trouble in the organisation? Those rumours of Verstappen maybe going to Mercedes?

It will be because of the power struggle that has persisted for a while and led to a number of high profile people leaving Red Bull. Horner has made a number of bad and often bizarre decisions, performances have dropped and ultimately I would imagine Verstappen doesn't see things improving with him in charge. So they'll have made it clear he goes or they do.

Timing wise the link to Mercedes recently will have made the top dogs at Red Bull nervous. Max is the best driver in F1. Horner has to go and with a three week break now is a perfect time to do it.

One of the more credible journalistic take on it.

BRed Bull as an organisation have changed their corporate structure and decided Horner has too much power within the company and want to break it up to match their new management direction. Also Max's dad is a bit of a ****.

Always delighted to see Lando P1 for his confidence if nothing else but Spa is a track where it’s no bad thing to start second and get a slipstream.

My prediction today is Oscar overtakes into lead on the kemmel straight into Les Combes, but that’s not the end of the world.

Lando has consistently been the faster driver when it comes to race pace especially towards the end of the race so if that does happen we could have a top fight on our hands in the final stint.

If Lando gets away clean though and stays out front it’s his to lose.

Of course chuck rain into the equation and anything could happen.

It’s a shame that these massive heavy cars have neutered Spa so much and made overtaking harder. It’s an incredible circuit.

Spa hasn't felt like a marquee event in a while IMO. I was 50/50 on watching it until I saw the weather forecast.

Looking at the race ratings since 2008 it's interesting to see Spa all the way down in 22nd.
