F1 2026

Fun race that.

Lewis showing that give him the right car and the right engineering team and he’s still the best racing driver on the planet. Totally showed Charles who is boss today.

So that’s new rules is it all about the battery? Seems weird that Verstappen was flying down the track then it just died!

Hamilton in this year's Mercedes would piss it.

His experience is showing this year. Only 2 races in but he's getting everything out of the car he has. Sadly there's another team that are currently miles better.

There are at least half a dozen drivers, probably many more who would piss it in that Mercedes.

This is a power unit formula and Merc have by far the best.

These regs are back to being a drivers car in terms of the car’s handling compared with the ground effect bollocks of the last four years. It actually moved around under the driver rather than relying on epic amounts of downforce (just wish they were 80:20 rather than trying for 50:50 on the PU).

But it’s great that we got to see Hamilton schooling Russel and Charles in wheel to wheel racing (before the Merc’s dominant car/engine allowed him to break free). He and Max are light years ahead of every other driver on the grid at present although Kimi and Hadjar show a great deal of promise.

In terms of raw speed agreed, there’s virtually nothing between the top 6-8 drivers in that respect but in terms of racecraft if they were all in the same car then Lewis and Max would be the ones battling for the title.

I loved seeing the celebratory power slide Antonelli did out of the hairpin on the final lap. Shows the extra character of these new cars. Just far more raw than the limousines of the past rule set.

Can you imagine the buzz that whippersnapper got when he got the chequered flag? Christ, when I was 19, it was all I could to drive a nail into a bar of soap.

Thought the same during the race.

He rinsed LeClerc today and if he had the same car he’d have kicked Russell and Antonelli’s arse too.

With the close passing and more twitchy cars the new rules plays into the hands of the more pure racers IMO.

These cars without all the battery shit would be great fun.

Strip all the battery shit out of these cars and it would be epic racing, even if they were several seconds a lap slower.

I'm not mad on F1.
And don't get this boost thing .
I Used to watch all the time but it got boring.
I watched today and it was a lot more exciting.
More over taking.
So people like the new format.
So don't.
Ive not really looked into the changes yet.
But it's better

This is the most one sided F1 has been since I don’t know when.

The Mercs were an average of 0.6 seconds per lap faster than the Ferraris with everyone else 1.2 + slower. In Fi terms that is an insanely big gap.

The results are already known, I won’t be watching too much of this.

F1 is at a crossroads right now ? The new cars are more dependent on battery life and the boost they can store and save ? Yes it's more on the eye and the drama on almost every lap, but there is little skill in driving and it almost feels remote-controlled from the pit wall

Mercedes loophole with the compression ratio has got 6 months of the racing season and everybody else will just play 2nd fiddle, I even think they are not running and racing on full power and they are holding it back because it would be so far ahead nobody would watch after 2 or 3 races

I've just finished watching the Indycar race at Arlington.
Far more exciting than the monstrosity F1 is now

Do you understand that F1 is an engineering contest above everything else? It has been like this since the 1950s. It’s what makes the sport unique.

If you want motorsport that’s just about driver skill and nothing else, there’s a load of other formulas and forms of racing out there

Max has well and truly thrown his toys out the pram.

You'd think he's well behind the pace.
He clearly thinks the new regs are a load of bollocks and his car is a heap of shit. Wouldn’t shock me one bit if he just does a Raikonnen and fucks off and races other cars at the end of the season.

I’m a bit surprised actually. Along with Hamilton he’s the only other proper old school pure ‘last of the late brakers’ balls out racer on the grid. Lewis loves the new cars, would’ve though that even if he wasn’t fighting at the front, Max might actually find it fun racing them as they’re very oversteery and the aero designs promote much closer racing. Should be right up his street but I guess not.
