F1 2026

As only an occasional follower of the sport, I can never understand why a car with a huge lead can have it pretty much wiped out due to the safety car being deployed. Unless it's his fuck up that brings out the SC, why should he be "punished"? Surely, the standings/ times that were in place at the deployment of the SC, should be carried over to the restart, no?
It just is what it is, part of the jeopardy of the sport. Makes it more exciting.

It’s why it’s not very often that you get leaders edging out massive leads anymore. Back in the day you’d see the likes of Schumacher having a 1 min lead and obliterating the rest of the field.

With safety cars being very common now you don’t see it very much, no point risking over driving and fucking your tyres when a massive lead is easily wiped out.

That's F1 for ya, baby!

Pretty unforgivable for Monaco to not even have a functional surface.

They already pay 30m a year less than most GPs, the racing is dog shit and it’s one of the more dangerous tracks.

At this point it’s just a red carpet event.

How have they pulled that stunt? Surely, per capita, it's the richest venue on the calendar?

That's more due to the rules around only having a certain number of engines and gearboxes per season. It makes no sense to push harder then you need to and risk a penalty later in the season, when you get the same number of points for winning by a second as you do for winning by a minute. Pre-2005 they'd have a new engine for every practice session, qualifying session and race so there was less risk in pushing 100% for the whole race.
