AFAIK he pays any and all tax that is due on UK earnings.
Seems that Valteri Bottas is struggling to get it near considering that "ANY driver" could do it.
Maybe George is as good as Lewis, but it'll take more than 2 practice sessions to prove that. Maybe after a couple of World titles they can start to compare...?

Bottas is just doing to Russell (in the FP'S) what Hamilton usually does to him.
Qualifying - would give Russell a good pole chance.
Race - top 5 would be impressive.

As much as the "it's just the car" line has always been proven to be bullshit in Formula 1 going back 30+ years, it will be a bad look for the sport if a 21 year old who has 36 race starts and 0 points suddenly becomes the fastest driver on the grid by swapping the Williams for Mercedes.

As much as the "it's just the car" line has always been proven to be bullshit in Formula 1 going back 30+ years, it will be a bad look for the sport if a 21 year old who has 36 race starts and 0 points suddenly becomes the fastest driver on the grid by swapping the Williams for Mercedes.
It wasn't a bad look for the sport when Max did it in 25 races at 18 (with only a handful of points) in an arguably better Redbull than he's driving this season.
I would wager George getting a win would bring more fans to the sport not alienate or disappoint existing ones.
I agree it could make non fans think "it's just the car" though.
I remember when the FIA/F1 stopped Hamilton winning the title in his debut season in the 2007 finale. Mysterious gearbox issues that ended his championship chances... George Russell being good isn't a huge surprise to anyone who follows the sport closely, especially Mercedes AMG Racing.
Having a good car doesn't mean "anyone" can reach its potential, especially race after race after race after race...
