F1 Season 2021

I've got no idea why Merc didn't pit Lewis straight away after that slow stop. The race would've been won for Lewis right there.
Are you mental? It’s because Merc were well aware that the tyres wouldn’t make it until the end, which was proven to be absolutely the correct call. If Lewis had pitted then RB could have used the same strategy to fly by him at the end.

Disagree. They could've made it a damn sight easier if they were ahead after the first round of stops.

Any attempted undercut by Max would've been thwarted by Hamilton being miles up the road due to their car again being miles quicker than the competition and taking that option away.

Haha one has to love the confidence of a fella from Bluemoon vs 40+ blokes with a Masters and doctorates and a fucking super computer that have ear games this scenario for a week.

You’re not right but kudos on being so massively unaware of that fact.

They do make mistakes!

Take Monaco 2015 for example where Mercedes threw away a certain victory or the most infamous pit stop blunder the leaving Hamilton out on bald tyres in the wet during his McLaren days in 2007 etc.

Ferrari used to make a habit of it almost every race in recent years as well.

I'm happy to eat humble pie if the gap wasn't there but it certainly looked it was. I'll be keeping an eye on the more in depth analysis from the likes of Mark Hughes (no not him the Motorsport expert!) in the coming hours and days.

A lot of gutted Englishmen again today it seems, fucking odd if you ask me.

Motorsport is traditionally less partisan than something like football. I think most fans are just more interested in good racing and hopefully a good season long battle at the front.

After this race it's a bit worrying for the neutral fan because it looks like the Mercedes may be the clear faster package once again and that Hamilton and Mercedes will easily win another championship.

Whilst you all willfully ignore some absolutely astonishing driving by Hamilton and label it as having the fastest car again.

Stunning drive by Lewis. Again.

He looks more up for it than ever. You've got to be impressed with his ability and will-power.

Max did his best but the Merc, in Lewis' hands, was too good. Those two really are in a league of their own at the moment and it's been great to watch. Pity their team-mates are pissing me off.

Bottas is fast and qulaifies well but isn't really a racer anywhere near the class required.

Red Bull are still suffering from lack of back-up for Max. They just don't have the strategic in-race options to fend him/them off. I've never been convinced by Perez as the right man for this job and have seen nothing so far to change my mind. He's a decent driver, if you want points picking up on a consistent basis, usually by going long on tyres, but he's never been a good qualifier or someone threatening to race at the front. I don't think he's what they needed.

The question is, who would be?

If you want experience then I reckon Hulkenberg or even Kimi would do better jobs than Perez. Ricciardo definitely would.

George Russell showed what younger drivers can do, when in a top car in Bahrain, so it's not like there isn't the talent around if given a chance.

Lando Norris would be right up here in a Red Bull more often than not. I wonder where he might head eventually, if Mclaren don't improve enough..? Hopefully they do improve and start challenging, but I won't hold my breath.

Russell's name looks to be on the Merc seat, Ferrari have two very good young drivers, so the only current top seat that will be up for grabs is at RB...

Looking forward to Monaco.
