Years ago it was more fun as cars failed. The leader could be 30 seconds ahead and he would have a gearbox failure or something. When does a car ever fail now?

What has happened this season to make Mercedes more competitive as they were rubbish until about 5 races ago.

That and going off track tended to be penalised a lot more as it wasn’t just tarmac run offs.

Cars probably fail every other race. Less often at the top end, but at Baku this season Verstappen was clear of the field and winning easily until his tire exploded out of nowhere. Bottas had to retire because the wheels overheated so much the wheel nut got welded on.

At Monaco Leclerc started on pole and then his gearbox spontaneously exploded. Alsonso retired 2 weeks ago because his rear wing fell off.

First time I recall a place being given back within seconds, instead of moaning. Almost worked for RB as well.

If verstappen gets punished then he has only himself to blame,he’s been on the edge far too many times saying that I think he’ll be going into next week on the same points as Hamilton and no penalties..

The way the final race is now poised for greatest TV audience/revenue I can see no further action.

It’s very much turned into how football commentary now tells us things different from what we‘ve just seen. It’s all about protecting the product and selling the brand. Sky have been in the RB pit for a few years now and are desperate for someone other than LH to win it, as are the FIA.

The last few races where LH has been coming back have proved beyond doubt to me that the rule book is there to be used as they want and given RB every incentive to abandon the rules of racing. A bit like the officiating in our games where leg breakers are just seen as a mistimed tackle.
