So true.
Should have been a defining day for F1 going into the future but instead, it’s a debacle of their own making.
The sad thing is they’ve missed a huge opportunity here.
If the race finished under the safety car then it would have been a shite ending but no one, aside from RB, could have complained at the result. Lewis was about 10 seconds ahead with 6 laps left.
If the race would have been red flagged it would have allowed Lewis and Max to battle it out on even tyres for the last 4/5 laps. Again, not perfect for Mercedes but a much fairer outcome than what they did.
Both of these would have gained the sport loads more fans.
However, to reach the outcome they did was a joke IMO. It was nothing short of gifting Max the win in dubious circumstances.
