So true.

Should have been a defining day for F1 going into the future but instead, it’s a debacle of their own making.

The sad thing is they’ve missed a huge opportunity here.

If the race finished under the safety car then it would have been a shite ending but no one, aside from RB, could have complained at the result. Lewis was about 10 seconds ahead with 6 laps left.

If the race would have been red flagged it would have allowed Lewis and Max to battle it out on even tyres for the last 4/5 laps. Again, not perfect for Mercedes but a much fairer outcome than what they did.

Both of these would have gained the sport loads more fans.

However, to reach the outcome they did was a joke IMO. It was nothing short of gifting Max the win in dubious circumstances.

If they applied the rules correctly then Hamilton gets a deserved win.

How is it fair to Verstappen and Red Bull? Invalidate the entire race result. If the result is invalidated the race itself and all placements are also scrapped.

This reminds me of the whole West Ham / Sheff Utd / Tevez thing. A long winded legal case that doesn't do anyone apart from the lawyers any favours and culminates with an outcome that doesn't really satisfy anyone

It's messy!

It's the fact that there was a referee who instructed how it worked. It's not just competitors and a clock.

There is no fair resolution to the Masi decision that is fair to both drivers.

The race result should be decided on the position of the cars at the time he made the decision to wave through only some of the cars, ie the race is ended under the safety car.

Same blind eye and greed which has enabled Verstappen to play chicken with his car all season, even if it might cost someone their life.

Even a dead body would be marketed to shit by this lot.

Kudos to Lewis' old man, he's kept his son's head in check at the end and played the gracious loser, because he knows this ain't over.

As for Brundle and Button, couple of gaslighting cunts.

Grosjean almost burning to death was their main marketing ploy all last winter.
