FA confirm Southgate will stay on until after Euro 2024 (p 101)

Think he is saying you are having a tantrum because England knocked out.

Might not be the best word, as I recall you've always been a critic of Southgate. But better managers have served up dross for England and I'm not sure there it is an attractive job for the best coaches. If Pep ever takes it, it will be a retirement gig.
Ah right. Only reason I’m mildly pissed off about them going out is that’s two more potential big money earners I’m missing out on… :-)

I take it back.

On reflection, taking Foden and Saka off and keeping Shaw and Maguire on whilst chasing a goal was a tactical masterstroke.

They were both tired and Saka was carrying a knock. They were becoming less effective before he took them off.

Mount won a penalty off the bench.

The only issue with the subs is that they came too late.

Why would you take off your left back when you haven't got anyone to play in that position and defend against a fast winger?

Or the biggest aerial threat at set pieces.

Only bitters think like that.

...because they were heading out of the World Cup

I think Pep would be a dud at international level, he wouldnt get the time needed with the players.
People say it takes a season for new City players to understand his methods and that's when he's got full time access.
That must equate to 10 years of access to international players if he managed them.

2010 Spain world champion with lots of players trained by Pep Guardiola. 2014 Germany world champion with lots of players trained by Pep Guardiola. Both teams took full advantage. 2022 England not world champion with little to no idea about how to take advantage of lots of players trained by Pep Guardiola. Coincidence? I think not. Southgate represents the good (bad) old way of doing things, and off course it works exactly as well as the last 56 years.
Okay, this needs to die. Spain won the Euros in 2008, before Pep went to Barcelona. Luis Aragones introduced their playing style, and when Del Bosque replaced him after the Euros, he carried on where Aragones left off. Pep had very little to do with it. As for Germany, Low got them to the 2008 Euros final, then the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup and 2012 Euros before he won the final, so you could argue that he had a squad that was building towards a tournament win. Pep is obviously an excellent coach, but there is no need to exaggerate his influence.
