FA confirm Southgate will stay on until after Euro 2024 (p 101)

There’s no flaw in my argument.

I only responded to a stupid question of why hasn’t Pep won the champs league.

Morocco didn’t win the World Cup but they got every ounce out of their squad, that’s a coaches job.

Now & I’ll probably be shocked by your response considering some of the shite you’ve come out with but here goes…..

Do you think Southgate got every ounce out of his squad?

There is a flaw because you're not accepting the criticism that Pep hasn't won the CL whilst criticising Southgate solely as the reason, we didn't win the World Cup. I'd argue Pep is more of a reason we lost to Chelsea in the CL final than Southgate was for us losing to France. I'd like to see you say otherwise.

Pep is undoubtedly a better manager than Southgate and it's stupid to expect City to win the CL just because we've been so dominant in the other competitions. Football is unpredictable and it comes down to luck, the players performing on the day, a referee decision and who you play against. But all of that also applies to England in major tournaments. Southgate deserves a lot of the blame for 2018 and the Euro's final. He didn't manage the game well enough. The players were clearly struggling and there were opportunities to improve things that he didn't take. But I wouldn't put the France loss down to him. It came down to us not taking our chances whilst they did. I'd say it was the same for Morocco. They were excellent but a defensive mistake put them 1-0 down and then a lack of composure cost them in front of goal. But they're not as good as the French and that's just what happens sometimes.

I don't think you could say England didn't give everything so I'm not sure what more they could have done. We could have defended better and Kane could have scored his penalty but that's something the players have to do, the manager doesn't kick the ball for them.

Three things are required, good players, good manager and good luck.
England have the players and have had the good luck to avoid the better teams (especially in Southgate's earlier tournaments) but not a good manager.

No, let's keep Southgate and wait until everyone's sick to do death of being the plucky losers that go out in the quarter finals every competition before we change.

Who do we change to?

I’ve said I’m not judging him on winning it. I’m judging him as a coach on maximising the performance of his team.

I thought Pep got everything out of his team in the champs league last season. I thought we were the best team in it.

So for the 50th time it’s not about winning but maximising the performance of the squad.

If you maximise the performance of your team you have a better chance of winning than if you don't !

Guardiola.
I'm not sure Pep would make a great England manager. There's very little time to work on tactics and I am not sure his man management style would suit. He seems to get a lot out of players and keeps them happy by using a small squad so that everyone plays, and being ruthless but fair by letting people leave if they're not happy.

I don't think that works when you have to deal with the players you have available. It's been said a few times that some of the ex-England players are absolutely incredulous about the fact that the squad all get on and are enjoying playing for England. That's definitely something that Southgate is really good at. He's also great at the crap that floats around the England manager's job, and I doubt Pep would have the patience for it.

I'd be gutted if Southgate was at City, but I think there's a reason why England have got a lot better under his management. I think he'd benefit from someone beside him that is better at reading the game, and coming up with solutions when there are problems, but I don't think it's the same job as club management.
