And inevitable defeat ….Give it a rest.
I know he’s not that liked on here but what are the alternatives. England did ok tonight. Penalty away from possible extra time.

Any decent manager wouldn’t want the job……poison chaliceSlept on it. Still not got any issues with Southgate
Bizarre.Obviously it doesn’t have to be. As has been proved twice in the past. But I personally, and I know I’m not alone, feel it’s an admission of failure before you start if you can’t find a single suitable candidate from your home country and are forced to look abroad.
If Pochettino was interested he'd be a significant upgrade on Southgate.Which is why, even though I’m no huge fan, I’d probably stick with Southgate for now. Howe almost certainly wouldn’t be interested. And he’s the only one I’d even consider might be an upgrade.
Even all the African countries have realised that a home manager, even a limited one, is a better bet than a foreigner with no connection to the country, just there for a nice payday.
Wouldn't say he's done great. He's not been a disaster either. Pretty much beat the teams you would expect to beat and lost against tougher opponents.Happy for a new gaffer
But Southgate has done great for England overall
Who’s the magical next manager that’s gonna get us playing even better and winning major tournaments ?
Nice money for doing sweet FA.Any decent manager wouldn’t want the job……poison chalice
We were the better team but Southgate isn't a winner.Thought we were actually the better team tonight. It’s probably time for a new manager, but he’s done better then pretty much all other England managers
Its also a step down now. It used to be a coveted role, but why would, say, eddie howe, take the job? Newcastle jobs is way biggerAny decent manager wouldn’t want the job……poison chalice
If he is the best option then you would be as well sticking with Southgate. If Pochettino was interested he'd be a significant upgrade on Southgate.
Managed the n England for 8 years, knows the English game and players and would certainly play better football than what they are playing now
Because it’s international sport. Their best against our best and that should include the coach. I just cannot envisage Italy, France, Germany, Spain or Portugal as well as a host of other European countries, having a ‘foreign’ manager and neither should we.Why does it have to be an Englishman?
