"looking at that forum they seem to hate us lol"
Ha ha - I must admit that back in the mid-late 90's 'Boro were amongst my top 3 hated sides, with a rivalry on the pitch being trumped by events off it whenever we met. As DD said though, a lot of it went both ways though I seem to recall the 1990's spats coming about originally as a result of the league game at Maine Road in 1995 against a newly promoted 'Boro. A mob of their fans turned up at The Clarence at about ten to three when most City fans had already cleared off to the ground. After a bit of fun and games in there they made their way over to The Albert and, according to a 'Boro fan of all people writing in one of their fanzines who was down here as a guest of a couple of City fans, the landlord got a right kicking.
From then on over the next few years it was pretty much tit-for-tat but since we got up under Royle in 2000-01 a lot of the animosity has diminished and we've played them plenty of times in the meantime. Of course, with them bringing a big following coupled with the added edge of it being a cup tie, the potential for trouble will be higher than if it was a bog standard league game.
