FA Cup 4th round draw - Palace (a)

Mate, it's boring. And as I said, it's embarrassing. The fact this is even being discussed because we've drawn either Bolton or Palace away in the cup is staggering. The two behomoths of the game that are a League 1 club and a struggling Prem team.

As someone pointed out yesterday, if it's so inherently bent why do you still follow the game? Surely there's no point if we're just being persecuted "at every available juncture". If we were getting shafted why haven't we drawn United, Chelsea or Liverpool away? It's almost as if the cup drawn is totally down to chance, who'd have thought eh?

I am not saying that this draw in particular is definitely fixed (although I do not rule it out). But it's pretty obvious that there is at the very least bias and unfairness across the sport and very possibly a coordinated agenda. I am talking generally here, not about FA cup draws or any particular tournament. When you've seen what's been going on at FIFA for years, Platini on the take and all the UEFA FFP nonsense, David Gill in a position of power and influence walking the corridors when the red card appeal panel is about to meet and a casual "I'm sure you'll make the right decision lads" coming from a director.

Anyone who can't see how bent this whole thing is needs to give THEIR head a wobble I think.

There's such a lot of crap in this thread it's unbelievable. A few years ago we had a run of home draws in the FA cup and people were moaning that they didn't expect to be buying so many tickets on the cup scheme.

when you start comparing Martin Keown and Michael Owen to Penn and Teller you clowns do any legitimate complaints we might have a great disservice

we whinge at this then why take anything else we spout seriously?

instead of wondering if the balls were heated or had raised ridges, try growing a pair first

failing that organise a campaign to boo the fa cup draw, that'll show 'em you mean business

It's random. 100% random. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves. Our previous draws have zero relevance to this one. When you toss a coin it is 50:50 every time, the previous results don't make the coin heavier on one side.

Anyway, decent draw. Bolton would be a short trip and Palace are in the deep stuff and are very unlikely to go full strength, plus their best player (Zaha) will be at AFCON. A loss to either team would represent a huge upset.

Is it any wonder?
  1. Financial fair play - brought it because we upset the apple cart.
  2. UEFA - Fined for coming back late after half time.
  3. UEFA - Forced to play behind so called closed doors (not for the guilty team), through no fault of our own.
  4. UEFA - Reported for paper aeroplanes and singing "Your'e not Incredible!"
  5. UEFA - Investigating the booing of their ridiculous "Anthem".
  6. FA - Red card for a push after the player concerned had been slapped in the face.
  7. FA - Players sent off for uncontrolled tackles that go unpunished for other teams.
  8. Referees - Constantly issuing yellow cards for offences that go unpunished when committed by the opposition.
  9. Referees - Giving a yellow card to Aguero when he was hacked down in the box.
  10. Referees - Giving a penalty aginst Stirling when the ball hit him on the back and he was not in the penalty area.
  11. Referees - Numerous other incidents that you all know about (including playing nine minutes extra time when you had indicated there would be six).
  12. Media - Constantly having digs at us (Money, Manager, Players, Fans) and giving very little credit whatsoever.

1. Would have come in anyway given a lot of owners have been looking for an excuse to stop putting loads of their own money into clubs.
2. Agreed completely stupid but hardly conspiracy theory fodder.
3. I agree the behind closed doors punishment is stupid but we aren't the only team that has been affected by it. It is not an attack on us. It's just an inadequate punishment being pororly enforced.
4. and 5. see 2.
6. Fernandinho was stupid getting sent off that day.
7-11. Inconsistent and poor refereeing decisions aren't going to go away. They affect everyone. I was quite glad the Sane goal was allowed against Arsenal even though it was marginally offside.
12. All fans think the media hates their club.

I agree we've been on the receiving end of some shocking decisions over the past few seasons but it doesn't mean there's a conspiracy against us.

Now before anybody has a go at me, I am not suggesting for 1 minute that the draws are fixed. For one the matches could have been far far worse and for another the cocks they get doing the draws aren't clever enough to pull off such a scam

However if we play Palace it will be the 45th consecutive cup game where we have played a premier league or a Championship team and also it will be the 10th consecutive cup game against premier league opposition away from the Etihad (apart from Everton but even we can’t play both legs of a two legged semi-final away !!!!)

Not fixed or stitched up.... just an incredible run of draws where (relatively) we have had much tougher matches than the Rags / Scousers etc... meaning we aren't able to rotate and rest players like our main competitors have been able to do

wow, its been that long since we've played a league one or lesser team, that's some run that is

I'm not saying the draw is fixed or not, but in this day and age, why can't the ball numbers be drawn by computer
and put on a big screen. The 2 pundits could still be there and tell us what numbers have come out. Because
that's all they basically do, already.

*Edit. Meant to add. Hope our games not 3pm on Saturday it's nigh on impossible to find a
stream.
