FA Cup 5th Round Draw 2019 - Newport (a)

Newport are currently 14th in League Two so no realistic chance of play-offs or danger of relegation. I think they will go all out for this tie so we need to be up for it and take the wind out of their sails by scoring early on. I think Jesus will be licking his lips at the prospect of facing this team - wonder what price he will be to get a hat trick?

I would fear for his shins! I hear the pitch is being hired out till the game as a golf driving range, complete with a bunker in each goal area! And what odds is anyone giving me that Taylor has already been pencilled in for this tie?

Obviously a very good cup team, were unlucky last season at Wembley, I also remember them (although not beating any big teams) getting far q/f? Without using Google in the ECWC in the late 70's or early 80's.

Pitch will make the game more level, expect a dry period so it's hard & rutted but we really shouldn't be overly worried with the players we have.

Can take nothing for granted, they held Spurs last year, beat Leicester, Leeds and Middlesborough and remember our own game v Wigan. The pitch is awful and a bit of a leveller, especially when we prefer to play it slick on the floor, and you know we will have another ref in charge where he will allow them to kick lumps out of us, and give them every free kick to pump the ball into the box. Anyhow after the money card is mentioned after 15 seconds with a team cost comparison, if we play half decent and take our chances then should be fine

In an ideal world..some of our players are simply not used to playing on a farmers field in Wales in February.
But it is what it is! aslong as nobody gets injured. Hey Ho!

They managed a wet Wednesday in Stoke so they can handle this.

Remember Burton away who are in a similar position in League 1 the score was 0 -1, so no guarantee of an easy game and the pitch will indeed a leveller and if we don't put the effort in work > talent sometimes in these games.
I'm confident that won't be the case under Pep. Newport are 25 League places lower than Burton. The Wigan game was a strange one, dominated posession, down to 10 men from Delphs Yellow turned Red (Cheers Alty), a glaring mistake that allowed the chance and they had 1 shot on target. What odds that happening again?

Tough game.I would have preferred the consistently mediocre Middlesbrough as opposed to Newport, who it appears have far more fire in their belly and are capable of a one off game of their lives.

We need to put out a team that has a balance of physicality, experience and youth.

‘glaring mistake that allowed the chance and they had 1 shot on target. What odds that happening again?’

Pretty good tbf as that’s what seems to happen in most of our matches.
