And where does Sane fit into all of that?

Sane has gotten more appearances than all the rest of non starters, and was superb in that roll, with all that was at stake for so long why would Pep mess with that?
Yes Sane would probably be a starter on any other team, but in the scope of our team dynamic he has to accept his role.
i think Pep's used him wisely, and Sane has been very good there, although understandably a little pouty.
Everyone wants to play, but the young guys have to realize that if they want to play for a big club and a great squad they have to be mature and put their sense of entitlement
aside, take their opportunities, and make sure their ready for when their time comes.
Sane had virtually no starts in the last 2 months of the season. There was no valid reason to start Mahrez over him against Brighton and Watford and although Mahrez did pretty well in those games, they are not exactly CL material so no saying Sane wouldn't have done better. Not sure where this pouty or sense of entitlement image comes from. Sane has come across as very mature and down to earth in his interviews and twitter comments. Bit of a media creation IMO. Also, I looked again at a few of his games earlier in the season and compared it to his sub appearances - he was definitely less sure of himself (almost certainly due to being excluded for so long) and not the fearless speed merchant we saw earlier in the season. Look at the Liverpool game - we know he scored the winner, but look at his charge down the wing for Aguero's goal - you can't teach that kind of stuff.
when sane has started he has started slowly and his overall performance in those games were mediocre some have noticed, i agree.
touching on the non starts against brighton and watford to mahrez, i'll just say Sane plays on the left, marhez on the right, so you can ring up Pep about that.
you haven't noticed Sane is sour faced regularly? pull the other one. and tell me that's not from not playing.
you said "Also, I looked
again at a few of his games earlier in the season and compared it to his sub appearances"
you did all that in the few minutes since i posted? wow
anyways,
no one is arguing he isn't good, he is, and his future here will be massive if he accepts it. but to pull one example from a whole season of Peps decisions is not entirely convincing.
so your argument is that Pep has not handled Sane properly?
i think your fishing,
but Pep already has me "treble hooked"
