FA Cup Third Round - West Ham (a) 7.55pm Friday 6th Jan

I was ridiculously excited by that signing, possibly even more than Samaras (both on the basis of YouTube videos). Not sure who was the bigger disappointment.

Castillo just! Also remember West Ham in the cup when a QF was played 2 days after our league game when Pearce rested virtually everyone except our 'star player" Samaras who then got injured and missed it!! Ha ha those were the days. Dean Ashton tore us a new one that day!

What would be the motive, there would need to be a massive gain to pay off all the people involved and more importantly to run a risk of discovery, with different people involved in every draw. What could they possibly gain from giving us a hardish 3rd round game ?
Why would different people need to be involved in every draw? That pre-supposes everyone is in on it. If true, it's about more than a single draw.

I think it's highly unlikely btw, but can't be entirely discounted imo.

Real shame what happened to his career. He looked like a really decent striker that day.

You presumsbly accept the odds on us avoiding lower league clubs for as long as we have are unfeasbily long.

It is just one of those anomalys GDM facing a run of Prem sides. The better you do in the cups the more likely it is. Could happen to anyone. Would be interesting to know the stats though.

Also the fact that its at a new ground, with many missing out on the league game as its midweek, is another bonus. We are better away anyway at the minute so could prove an advantage.

Rags, Dippers, Chelski and Spurs all get home draws against lesser opposition (obviously, those balls were in the freezer for a couple of hours before the draw); we get WHU at their place........ Hmm!

I know that sounds cynical, but I really have no trust in the FA. Too much money in sports betting and TV for it not to be corrupt. It is a massive scandal waiting to be exposed.

We seem to be better away from the Etihad so might be a good draw.

Saves the cup scheme fans a lot of cash just after Christmas also.

There are a few positives to this. Also if Pep does decide to rest a few it will be an excellent test for the likes of Garcia, Maffeo and even Gabriel Jesus an early taste of the standard of Premiership sides.

i can see where the conspiracy theory comes from.....

2011 we really got shafted with Leicester, Notts County, villa, Reading and Stoke 2 at home.

2013 they were on to us now. We had the toughest of runs with Watford, stoke, Leeds, Barnsley and Wigan 3 out of 4 at home.

2014- Blackburn, Watford, Wigan and Chelsea 3 at home.

2015 Boro at home.

Let's not forget the tricky run we got in the league cup in 14. Wigan, Newcastle, Leicester, West Ham, Sunderland.

And last season

Sunderland Hull Palace and Everton before the final none of whom were any good last season.

They are doing a cracking job and with 3 cup final wins and a a final appearance in the last 10 finals in the Fa Cup and League Cup long may it continue!
