Technically they've met the same criteria in both cases, Wio commited his violent conduct on a Saturday, the FA gave him until 6pm on the Wednesday to appeal, that's 3 working days. Vieira committed his offence on the Tuesday, they've given him until 6pm Friday to appeal, that's 3 working days. Unfortunately the FA, despite there being regular fixtures on Sundays, don't count Sunday as a working day and, as such, this day doesn't count in the appeal/banning process.
It was extremely annoying that Wio played the system to allow him to take part in the Carling Cup semi, but under FA rules he was allowed to do so. They've punished him for his frivolous appeal which is all well and good, but it doesn't help us.
