FA Watch

Bollocks mate - 4 mins without an injury - added time for celebrations? Since when have we had that - take all that to it´s logical conclusion and we´re playing over 100mins every fookin game!! Again it´s fookin inconsistency which is what this initiative is all about

I may be imagining things, but didn't Bellamy score at around 89 mins and 30 secs, before the board went up. Therefore, the celebration finished at around 90 mins and 15 sec [on Sky Clock]. If play resumed at around 90 mins and 30secs, then there were 4 mins [INCLUDING THE CELEBRATION] plus the 30 secs for the sub, meaning that the final whistle should have been at exactly 95 mintues, or have I completely misunderstood this? And, when did the ref and 4th official converse regarding the one minute being added on for the celebration?

However, I am getting a little sick of conspiracy theories, if the truth be known. Better defending would have solved any issues from yesterday.

Agree with your last couple of lines, completely gutted about losing the way we did in injury time but you cant switch off against a team like united, thats what we did and got punished, it's all part of the learning curve and we will have learned plenty from yesterday, onwards and upwards.

Thats an easy cop out. Sky run the clock as anyone would, Bellamy scores and the board had already been put up meaning that the time is still correct. Even Hughes has commented on it in the fact that we played near 7mins more than the 90mins when 4 mins was shown. Are you saying there was 3mins where the ref had his watch stopped? if so why? Does that mean my watch, Hughes watch and every other person watching the games watch was wrong?
I was out before and could hear two rags talking about this, they were both saying the free kick shouldnt have been one but they also were saying that the extra time was a joke.

Knew I hadn't explained myself properly - oh well!

To answer your question though, yes - effectively the ref did stop his watch for 3 minutes, over 2 for both goal celebrations and 30 secs for the substitution

Hear what your saying but as I said above:

as someone else has pointed out there were 5 goals the second half so if by his own admition the ref had added 2mins for the goal by Bellamy, so what happened to the other 8mins for the other goals? And what about the sub? Any other incidents? By my working out we should have played around 11mins extra time at least to make it all equal. Either way there is a void that needs answering by someone.

I loved this post. Sums it all up.

"If 4 minutes of extra time is all that can be found to cover stoppages over 45 minutes, how the hell can 3 minutes be found to cover stoppages over 4 minutes?"

Hi folks,

I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to get on here today and I'm off to my Driving Awareness Course (or Speeders Anonymous) as our delightful new poster Monty Burns' Daughter advised me a few moments ago - I've got both daughters signed up on here now and I'm a proud, proud father!

I've just got time to do some PM's before I go but I'll try and get back on tonight but it will be after ten if I manage it.

Lots of encouragement for this at work today by the way!

Monty

Why havent the FA commented on Eboue's blatant cheat of a handball then sliding on his knees, ala Ade, in front of the Wigan fans ????????

Why havent the FA charged Neville yet for inciting the city fans??????

Why havent the FA charged Utd yet for coin throwing in the crowd and pitch invasion (ok only by 1 muppet but still)

The silence is incredible

i dont think that bellers celebration was any longer than the other 6 goals now i dont mind refs coming out and saying we are adding on time for celebrations so add a minute for every goal scored and subs made and clear it up once and for all

My sense of injustice has gone, though where the original 4 minutes came from God only knows. However Monty is right, we can't get involved in that debate.

I'm still not happy with the refereeing but, having thought some more since last night, I still can't see a way that FA Watch can credibly find Atkinson's timekeeping to be within the organisation's remit. Adding time to compensate for time lost is so much of a grey area that it will always be possible for a referee to find excuses for things such as happened yesterday.

Still think that Wiley laughing with Ferguson after the winning goal is out of order, though whether it's significant enough to justify making it a campaigning issue I again have my doubts.

So I think this is an episode which basically we have to let slide.
