FA Youth Cup 4th Round vs Liverpool (19:00 KO)

Reading the report on LFC site, made them sound like they were unlucky, then read a report from a paper that said Dippers got spanked. I wonder which report the candle carriers will believe?

I know it's early days but I think Sancho could become one of England's greatest players if not the greatest.
To think in a few years we will have him, Diaz and Jesus in the same team is just fucking scary!

It's pretty frightening really, and that doesn't include Roberts, Iheanacho, Moreno (who I haven't really seen much of) and Zinchenko (who from the few clips I've seen plays like David Silva but with pace). And then there's Gonzalez and Duncan who could both have massive futures too.

Lee Carsley is doing a fantastic job with this team.

I've seen us play the ball around and keep ball at every level, so that was nothing new. However, what this team were able to do was play with a high intensity for long periods without giving the ball away - it was just brilliant to watch.

They we're just passing the ball for passing sake, either, they were actually looking to take advantage of every situation and attacking with purpose. Then if they did give away possession they were all over Liverpool and gave them little option but to play long ball, which I thought our defenders dealt brilliantly with for the most part.

He's definitely inherited a quality side and isn't coaching any duds. But he's taking these quality players to the next level and increasing their chances of having a first team career with MCFC.

Keep up the good work.

"massive" futures you say ;-)

There is nowt in the DT this morning about the game. Last Saturday we had at least a list of the Friday fixtures but today not a chirrup!

The Dippers can believe what they want, as they usually do but they must have had the August 7-0 whipping on their mind because at 3-1 down they still had a back line of five. They were never in it, even at 1-1. They were quick on the counter and had some quick guys up front who tried to make the best of the toe-enders upfield from their goalie. I think he thumped as many balls, if not more, upfield as he rolled out. One tactic and one tactic only, and it didn't worked. We played the football, we played like the first team used to play and we clearly had the better footballers. It's clear evidence as to why MCFC are top of the U18s and The Dippers aren't.

November 2015 was the last time the U18's lost a league game, the only other competitive fixture they lost was the 2015-16 FA Youth Cup final against Chelsea. Of course last seasons U18's mostly moved up to the U23's but last seasons U16's were unbeaten (in the league at least) in 2015-16.

That means that a lot of those players last night (and the ones not there) haven't lost a league game for a season and a half (at least) so far and precious few other matches either.

Are we finally better than Chelsea?

Tough to say, I think we've been better this year but they're still very good. Current league tables:

And we're both through to the 5th Round of the Youth Cup, so depending on the draw, I think we're likely to see another City vs Chelsea final. Can't underestimate Southampton though, they knocked United out but have been dire in the league.

Our current U18's are more talented than the previous 2 years however, i'd definitely fancy our chances of cleaning up the trophies this year.
